HARRY E. BIRNIE
Date of Passing: Jan 02, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY E. BIRNIE 1937 - 2015 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Birnie on January 2, 2015 into the arms of Christ whom Harry professed in his daily prayer life. Left to mourn Harry's passing is Bob and Carol Kollar and family of Brampton, Ontario, and Canon Mike and Elizabeth Lowery and family of Brandon all dear friends for many years. I know Harry had other friends still living or having passed on since, but their names are known only to God. Harry was a ward of the Province of Manitoba and part of the foster care system from 1937 until 1953. He searched for his mother much later in life, but was unsuccessful in identifying her. He accepted that with grace and perhaps he has rejoined her in heaven where they can finally embrace. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harry's life at a memorial service on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage, Winnipeg, MB. I am so saddened to hear about Harry's passing--my heart breaks as I have just learned of this terrible news. He was a close friend of my dad, Neil Stobbe...and 15 years ago, Harry became a very close friend to us as well. Harry spent every weekend at our house in the country, hanging out on our deck, laughing and telling stories. He helped cut our grass all the time with the riding lawn mower, and we'd cringe every time he hit a rock...but what good times we had. He was like family to us. We'd have breakfast together every weekend and spend our days sitting around the bonfire..what memories we will cherish always. As he became ill, his visits became less and less, and then Neil passed away and ultimately, we had lost contact with Harry. So very sad we did not know how sick he was, and that we missed his memorial. You will always be part of our memories from some of the best times of our lives! - Posted by: Marnie and Bill Wilson (Friends) on: Apr 10, 2015
