Date of Passing: Feb 08, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL EDMONDS Hazel M. Edmonds, peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2015, passed away with her family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Howard (Dianne), David (Gerty); grandchildren Jason (Janice), Mark (Mandy) and Stephanie; great-grandchildren Sawyer, Jordan, Paisley, Jacob and Walker, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard, her parents Richard and Annie Speer, as well as nine brothers and sisters. Mom was born October 1, 1919 and lived her entire life in the Springfield area. In 1948 Mom married Dad and they made their home on Hazelridge Road in the Oakbank area. In her youth Mom was an avid baseball player and in her later years she faithfully followed the Toronto Bluejays. She also enjoyed her weekly outings at the Ranch with her coffee friends. Mom was a member of the Oakbank United Church and an active member of the UCW. We finally realized why Mom had such a great memory, she completed a daily diary, which she often referred back to. She enjoyed many hours doing her word search and playing solitaire. Thank you to the homecare workers who took care of Mom, also special thanks to Manji from Health Sciences Centre - GH7 for her care and compassion during Mom's final hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakbank United Church with Reverend Maureen McCartney officiating. Interment to follow at a later date at Sunnyside Cemetery. Donations may be made in Hazel's memory to a charity of one's choice. Seasons Funeral Service, 204-444-5444 www.seasonsfunerals.ca

Aunt Hazel was a very strong and determined woman all of her life. Keeping in touch by phone was most often the way we were able to stay connected whether near or far. We will miss her very much.
