JESSIE M. BLAIS May 7, 1922 - February 12, 2015 Peacefully on February 12, 2015 Jessie M. Blais passed away at Vista Park Lodge with her family by her side. Left to cherish her memory are her children Donna Patterson (Al) of Toronto, Judy Watson (Wayne) of London, Shelley Young (Ross) of Winnipeg, Bruce (Vivian) of Calgary, daughter-in-law Cherryl (Rick) of Calgary, nephews Bill Hodgson (Judy), Rick Perciante (Jason) and niece Barbara Duke (Peter). Jessie was a wonderful "Nana" to 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Jessie was predeceased by her husband Henry (Hank) in 2006, son Brian in 2004, her parents Williamina and Thomas Hodgson, brothers William, and Thomas, and sister Flora Perciante. Jessie was born and lived most of her life in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario until the transfer of Hank's work brought them to live in Winnipeg and Calgary. She spent many years employed in the retail industry and took pride in making her customers happy. Upon retiring, Jessie and Hank returned to Manitoba spending leisure time at Hillside Beach. Family members recall summer never officially started until Jessie filled the humming bird feeder at the cottage. Throughout the years, Jessie travelled with Hank across Canada visiting family. Each one of her grandchildren has fond memories of those special times with Nana who often shared her gift of cooking and baking and slipping them a few dollars of her casino winnings. Jessie will be remembered for her sense of humour and her caring nature for friends and family. She had a special way with animals, and her home always included a family pet. She was an avid card player, enjoyed dancing as a young women, however later in life her interests changed to sports. She followed curling and loved watching the Blue Jays play. Jessie's family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff from homecare, Supportive Housing and Vista Park Lodge for the compassionate care they provided during the last few years of Jessie's life. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned in Thunder Bay in early May. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society or charity of your choice in Jessie's memory. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
