CHRISTA KOOTS (nee HEINRICH) December 26, 1939 - March 9, 2015 It is with deep sadness the family of Christa Koots (nee Heinrich) announce her passing on Monday, March 9, 2015, at the age of 75 years, after a lengthy, courageous fight with cancer. She leaves to cherish her memory her dearly beloved husband of 55 years, Michael, her children Ken (Allison), Wayne (Kathy), and Anita (Ian), and her grandchildren Kelvin, Simon, Emily and Abigail. Christa was born December 26, 1939 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and was predeceased by her father and mother Johan Heinrich and Maria Schmolz in 1944. Christa had one sibling (deceased), Anneliese Beier. Christa was raised in an orphanage in Wurzburg, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1958 where she was sponsored by a family who had immigrated to Winnipeg a few years earlier. Christa began her new life in Winnipeg as a domestic and then in an embroidery factory. After marrying Michael Koots in 1959, Christa devoted her life to her family. She was proud of and loved all of her children and grandchildren very deeply. Christa enjoyed baking desserts and cooking extravagant dinners for her family. She was an excellent seamstress (Barbie clothes), artist (paintings, ornaments, birdhouses, furniture, etc.), and enjoyed gardening and camping. Christa always made everyone around her feel welcome and special. She will be remembered as exceptionally tenacious, yet kind, and very intelligent. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated. She was a favorite Aunt. My childhood memories are filled with warm and loving memories of her. She had a spirit of strength, warmth and joy about her. Everyone lucky enough to know her, was touched by her ability to make you feel valued. She was artistic, creative, and intelligent. May she rest in peace with no more pain - Posted by: Julie Braun (Niece) on: Mar 11, 2015
