HUGH DONAGHEY July 27, 1926 - February 4, 2015 With heavy hearts we say farewell to our Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa and friend. Dad passed away February 4, 2015 at Concordia Hospital. Born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, he immigrated to Canada in the 1950's. From 1952-1965 he worked at Eaton's as a painter and from 1965-1987 at Stoney Mountain Penitentiary as a paint instructor, retiring in 1987 to care for his wife Jean. Predeceased by his wife in 1991, his brother Norman and sister May, he will be sadly missed by his son Brian (Karen), daughter Karen Leitch (Nick), grandchildren Chris (Tori), Valerie (Henrik), Cole (Diana), Danielle (Piotr) and great-grandchildren Liam, Dylan, Kieran, Tristan, Taylor and Elizabeth, as well as brother-in-law Alvin Trann and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Dad was proud of his Irish heritage, so it's fitting to have his service on St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Alzheimer's Society or Winnipeg Humane Society. You will always be in our hearts. We Love You. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I will always remember your dad for his wonderful sense of humor. I remember how my mom and dad (Doug and Vera Ford) would come home from spending the evening with your folks and how much they would laugh about the night before. We are so sorry for the loss of your dad. Kathy and Dale Rusnak - Posted by: Kathy Rusnak (friend of the family) on: Mar 19, 2015

  • Mr. Donaghey use to come into our office assisted by his daughter Karen to visit his grandson Cole and granddaughter Danielle. Before they even came out of there offices I had to announced that there grandpa and mom were there to see them he had a smile and beaming from ear to ear. That smile I will never forget and it was so big that it would have light up the Winnipeg Arena. The twinkle in his eye was truly Irish. He always had time to ask me how I was and were Cole and Danielle behaving themselves. Mr Donaghey you will be truly missed by your family, friends and loved forever. REST IN PEACE - Posted by: Linda Watkins (friend of family ) on: Mar 14, 2015
