DAVID SCOTT December 24, 1920 - March 12, 2015 It is with much sorrow that we affirm the passing of David Scott, predeceased by his first wife, Joan (June 15, 1994) and survived by his second wife, Marie. He is survived by his son Murray (Sandy), grandchildren Raegan (Lindsay), Rachel, Sawyer Barr (great-grandchild Farrah), Dallas Barr; daughter Betty (predeceased February 10, 2002); son Bob (Ivan), grandchild Christina; and daughter Joanne (Bob), and grandchildren Wes and Jen. Dad grew up in West Kildonan and soon after finishing high school joined the Canadian Air Force. During the war he was stationed in Halifax where he met Joan and they married on September 15, 1945. They moved to Winnipeg in 1946 where Dad started a long career with Shell Canada until retirement. During the 1950s Dad and Mom also owned and operated Scott's General Store on Talbot Avenue in Elmwood. In 1960 Dad and Mom moved to North Kildonan and built a house on Bonner Avenue where he lived until last year. Dad and Mom also built a cottage at Lester Beach and for many years the kids enjoyed many a happy and delightful summer on Lake Winnipeg. Dad had two passions in his life, gardening and fishing, both endeavors he would literally spend all day doing. He belonged to the North Kildonan Horticultural Society where, each year, he would win top prizes for his vegetables. The same results could not be said for his exploits at fishing, but for Dad, that did not matter. Dad and Mom were also long time members of North Kildonan United Church. The family is forever grateful that Dad was fortunate enough to have lived a long life of 94 years characterized by excellent health, continuous activity, and personal accomplishment.
