CHRISTOPHER THOMAS
Date of Passing: Mar 12, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTOPHER THOMAS Christopher passed unexpectedly yet peacefully at home on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the age of 29 years. He had an undiagnosed heart condition that took him far too soon. He was predeceased by his little sister Deanna, his granny Thomas, grandad Thomas, grandma and grandpa Choiselat, aunt Armelle, uncle Alain, and best friend Colleen Johnson. Christopher will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Hayley, parents Helene and Don, brothers Dustin and Dylan, in-laws Tim, Kathy, Alexa, and Dylan Krushel, best friend Kimberly Cartier, and numerous other family and friends. He was born and raised in Winnipeg. He attended Shamrock School in his early years and J.H. Bruns for high school. Christopher graduated from the U of M with a Bachelors of Social Work degree in the spring of 2012 with a GPA of 3.97. He worked as a social worker for nearly two years, the last eight months of which were spent at B&L Resources. B&L Resources recognized Chris' talent and as a result threw their full support behind him. To them we gratefully acknowledge this support both while he worked there and at this difficult time. Christopher was my best friend, husband, and soul mate. We met while working together and quickly realized how alike we were and eventually came to believe that we were made for each other. Christopher was the rock in our relationship. He worked extremely hard to give us and I the best both physically and emotionally. Christopher had huge ambitions for us and saw all through perfectly. He always made sure things were taken care of so we could live as well as possible. It was because of this hard work, perseverance, and determination that we achieved so much in our six short years together. Christopher had a huge love for adventure and was passionate about travelling, often planning trips down to the smallest details. May 1st would have been our fifth wedding anniversary and Christopher surprised me by planning to take us to Las Vegas to recreate our honeymoon. His loss has created a huge hole in my heart and soul that I do not believe will ever be filled again. Christopher was big brother to Dustin and Dylan. He took this role seriously and was so very proud of the close relationship all three of them had. He spoke often about how lucky he felt to be a part of this family. He knew his parents and brothers loved him unconditionally and he loved them just as much in return. Christopher leaves a gigantic hole in our family. A hole where once occupied the joie de vivre, the enthusiasm, and the magnetic charm of a big, generous, and fun loving personality. His loyalty to family and friends was unsurpassed. His commitment to helping those in need bordered on devotion. He regularly showed this passion and caring on a scale that dwarfed most people's best efforts. He will be missed by many but he will leave those close to him incomplete; longing for a hug, the sound of his voice, a turn of a phrase, or just the reassurance of his presence in the world. A celebration of Christopher's life will be held on Friday March 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Due to Christopher's devotion to and love of children we ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

This is a very late tribute. I've thought of Chris every day since we heard of his passing. My heart breaks for his family and friends. He left the world far too young and left a void in people's lives that knew him and I just wonder how many people he could have touched that he could have improved their lives with knowing him. I wish I had known Chris when he was an adult because I feel I really missed someone truly special. He had struggles growing up and had help from loving family and friends who saw him through and he was strong enough to turn his life around and be happy. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Ron and Regeena Pierce (friend of the family) on: Apr 05, 2015

Celebrating your life has given me some closure but I can no longer count down the days till u were supposed to come back. I'm going to miss our crazy talks and asking Bender for advice when we were stressed :) or listening to some Kendrick and my fav, jay-z!...even going old school with limp bizkit on our drive to kenora! Lol I'm thankful for the stories and music we shared, the laughs and the tears we sometimes shed when times got tough. You always had my back and were always so optimistic even when I was being sour lol. Our office will never be the same. You have given me such a positive outlook on my life and now I think to myself "what would Chris do?" When I'm feeling down. You did whatever you could to cheer me up and I hope I did the same even for just a bit! You were wise beyond your years my friend and passionate about the work you did, putting others before yourself! I will forever miss you bud! ❤ - Posted by: Corina Chung (Office partner/coworker) on: Mar 22, 2015

In the few short months that Chris and I worked together, I came to know a couple of things about him. First, he loved his wife dearly. He always spoke proudly of her. Second, he loved his job. Chris was passionate about helping others and he cared greatly for those that he supported. Chris was the type of person who would go the extra mile to help someone out. Chris was friendly, encouraging, and full of enthusiasm. You could always count on a high-5 or a wave when you walked by him. Chris, you will be greatly missed by so many people. To Hayley and Chris' family, I send my deepest condolences. - Posted by: Danielle (Coworker) on: Mar 17, 2015

Chris you touched the lives of many. As I often told you -- everyone needs a champion, someone who believes in them so much they believe in themselves. Chris you were that champion to many of the moms, and their children. You will be missed for your hugs and your constant belief that we could save the world one child at a time. - Posted by: Lorraine Baldwin (Supervisor) on: Mar 17, 2015
