NANCY OLENSKY (RYBACK) January 20, 1932 - March 8, 2015 Nancy Olensky, dearly beloved wife of Wally, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2015, at the Victoria Hospital. Nancy is survived by her husband Wally; children, Jeff (Debbie), and Marianne(Rob); grandchildren, Kristin (Andrew), Kyle and Colin; great-grandchildren, Maddison and Logan; her brother Robert and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Ryback; and her brothers, Orest and Cliff. Nancy grew up in the north end of Winnipeg. She attended Isaac Newton High School. Nancy worked at The Manitoba Telecoms Service and The Western Canada Lotteries. Nancy enjoyed her many trips to different places such as Toronto, Chicago, California, Florida, New York, Ottawa, and BC. She had a love for taking the trailer to Birds Hill Park and spending time with her family there. She loved knitting afghans and fixing everyone's clothes if they had ripped a hole or needed a button fixed. Nancy always woke up early to beat her husband to the crossword puzzle in the paper. When she did and filled it all in, she simply wrote: YAHOO! Nancy had a love for all political figures, especially the Royal Family. She loved watching CNN and always kept her family up to date with the latest headlines. Nancy will be truly missed by all the many hearts she touched over her 83 years. She had an amazing sense of humour and her smile will be remembered forever. We would like to send a very special thank you to the staff on the 5th floor at the Poseidon Care Centre for taking such excellent care of her over the past two years. A special thank you to Elsie Chrunyk for the many visits. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, March 27, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. (204) 956-2193. Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, They simply mean I'll miss you, Until we meet again. Love: Wally

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Mr. Olensky, Jeff, Marianne and your families. My deepest condolences. I have great memories of us as kids growing up on Bittersweet, and your family made up a big part of it. Me and my family are in Edmonton now, and lots of us have spread apart, but I won't forget the warmth and kindness of (to me) Mrs. Olensky. • My Aunty Nancy was a lovely lady. She always greeted you with a big warm smile. I remember many wonderful meals together. Playing in their huge rec-room downstairs. I remember her taking us kids for pizza at a place that had talking tables and toilets! Her and baba taught me to sew! I remember her making us girls the wonderful sock monkeys too! I love you Aunty Nancy and I'm thankful for the wonderful memories! You will always be in my heart! Love forever. Lianna xoxoxo - Posted by: Lianna Ryback (neice) on: Mar 21, 2015
