ROSALIA BURACZEWSKI In the early hours of March 21, 2015 Rosalia Buraczewski passed away in her sleep at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 89. She will be missed by her son Edward (Rona), daughters Helen (Julius) and Sheila (Jeremy), and granddaughters, Jennifer and Amie. Rose was born in Liskowate, Poland on August 17, 1925. Displaced by the war, Rose's journey took her from Poland through Germany to Lincolnshire, England before arriving in Canada to settle in Winnipeg in 1956 where she has resided ever since. She will be remembered for her strength, her determination and her independence. She relied on her prodigious memory throughout her life, having never learned to read. There was nothing Rose loved better than to feed her family. In more recent years, she enjoyed supervising the preparation of perogies and cabbage rolls to her specifications, ensuring that her family was able to carry on her traditions of Polish cooking. She was always looking for a new take on an old recipe and was willing to experiment with new flavours and ingredients. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of remembrance is being planned for Mother's Day. The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverside Lions Supportive Housing for their care and kindness in the last few years.
