HENRI JOSEPH LEONCE DESORCY July 9, 1924 - March 31, 2015 Henri Desorcy passed away in his 90th year, surrounded by the love of his family. He will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by his wife of 57 years, Josephine (Ottenbreit); his daughter Gloria; brothers and sisters, Jeanne (Tougas), Gilles, Guillaume and Yvette (McGibney); brother-in-law Edward Ottenbreit, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Jaques, Paul and Donat . Henry was born in Ste. Anne, Manitoba, and cherished memories of his youth on the family farm in La Broquerie. He worked for Westeel Rosco for more than 30 years, and then as a driver for a variety of companies, including Cropo's Funeral Chapel. Retiring at the age of 81, Henri often remarked that he did not know how he ever had time to go to work. He enjoyed many happy hours with his wife, daughter and brother-in-law, working in his yard and garden, entertaining friends, walking with his dogs, and doing volunteer work. He was always available to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbours. He approached both the gifts and the challenges in his life with unfailing optimism and a good sense of humour. A faith-filled man, Henri devoted many hours to the Knights of Columbus (St. Anthony of Padua Chapter), and to other committees at his church. He was a longtime volunteer for the Manitoba branch of the Consumers' Association of Canada. Henri had an affinity for all animals, especially horses and dogs, and was an avid gardener. He played hockey as a young man in La Broquerie, fostering a lifelong love of the game, and of many other sports. We would like to thank our family and friends for their support and assistance during this difficult time, and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for the excellent care Henri received. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on April 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus (St. Anthony of Padua Chapter), the Manitoba branch of the Consumers' Association of Canada, or a charity of your choice.
