JUDITH JOAN (MILLS) COWAN Judith Joan (Mills) Cowan, born May 14, 1950, a long time sufferer of myotonic dystrophy, lost her battle in the Victoria Hospital Friday April 3, 2015. She is predeceased by her partner Gil VandenBosch, father Leonard Roy Cowan, stepfather Jack Foster, brother Robert Cowan, his wife Colleen and brother-in-law Lloyd Mason. Surviving are her son Christopher Mills, mother Leona (Cowan) Foster, brother Murray Cowan (Anita), sister Shirley Mason and Gil's family. Judy had an active farm childhood near Cardale, enjoying the animals, especially our horse Dolly. She moved to Winnipeg at a young age and worked at the St. Boniface Hospital for many years. She married Terry Mills and together they celebrated the arrival of their son Christopher Allan Mills. Judy devoted her time to raising Chris and caring for many other children. She loved her homemaking activities, sewing, baking and visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed sports and was an avid curler. Louise Dion, her longtime friend, has been Judy's lifeline over the last few years and was there at the time of her death. A private service will be held in her memory.
