Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN (GERBRANDT) WEISS Peacefully, with her family by her side, Helen passed away into the waiting arms of Jesus on April 7, 2015 after a hard fought battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Emily (Jurgen) and Christine (Rod), her son Wesley (Jaynee), and especially by her precious grandchildren Nicole, Stephanie, Ryder, Mack and Jones. She also leaves to mourn her passing her siblings, John Gerbrandt (Elvina), Eva Wiebe (Ray), Martha Gerbrandt, Jake Gerbrandt (Maryann) and their families. She will be missed by her large extended families and many friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Erwin in 2004. Helen was born on March 17, 1948 in Altona. She grew up on the farm, but decided at age 17 to start a new adventure in Winnipeg. It was here she met Erwin and they began their life together. Helen loved to serve people and always did so joyfully whether at her home daycare or being the longtime custodian at Immanuel Pentecostal Church. Although work was important to her, family always came first especially her grandkids whom she adored. Whether it was attending a school event, camping together, making a meal, staying at "Oma's Resort" or just playing Lego on the floor she loved the company of all of her kids. She has left us a legacy of living with joy, passion, generosity and love. Her faith and love of the Lord was evident in every part of her life and we are thankful for the Godly heritage passed down to us from her. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave. Burial to follow immediately after the service. Thank you to Dr. A. Mehta, Dr. Banerji, the staff at CancerCare in St. Boniface Hospital, Riverview Health Centre 3E, and the amazing care and support from the most compassionate staff at Grace Hospice. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to the "Home of the Good Shepherd Orphanage" - Brazil, in care of Randy and Carla Redmann. Envelopes will be available at the church.
