MARY GRACE FROVICH
Born: Mar 05, 1920
Date of Passing: Apr 03, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY GRACE FROVICH (MAZUR) On Good Friday morning, April 3, 2015, Mom left her worries and troubles behind. Mom was born on a stormy winter day on March 5, 1920, to John and Kasika Mazur, on the family farm in Brokenhead, Manitoba, one of 14 brothers and sisters. She attended the White Poplar School when farm chores allowed; completing a grade eight education. At age sixteen, Mom went to the City to babysit for relatives and work at odd jobs, but returned to the family farm when help was needed during harvest. Mom's first full-time job was working at Winston Furriers, and she later worked as a waitress at Nick's Eat a Lot on Main Street. Over the years Mom worked at many restaurants as a waitress or short order cook, with evenings spent working at the needle trades on Adelaide Street. One of Mom's proudest achievements was when she and Dad were able to buy their own home. From the start Mom had full control over the household - if any of her five children was too noisy or there was too much arguing, she would ask "Where's my wooden spoon", and we would know she had reached her limit of tolerance. There wasn't a disease or ailment that she couldn't cure without a healthy application of Absorbine Junior, vinegar or Vicks VapoRub. Sometimes we kids were afraid to get sick. Mom doted on her family (especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren); no one was allowed to leave her home empty handed, whether it was with cookies, jelly beans, donuts, perogies or gas money. Mom was content to stay in the family home and was able to do so until her death with her daughter Ellen's help and companionship and in recent months with the added assistance of her daughter Jo-Anne and granddaughter Trinda. Mom was predeceased by her husband Edward in June, 2000 and is survived by her five children, Leslie (Valerie), Gordon (Helen), Terry (Laurie), Jo-Anne (Sonny) and Ellen, her 11 grandchildren Trinda (Evan), Michael (Catherine), L. Patrick, Alexander, Matthew, Erin (Ryan), Kayli, Brendan, Lee (Amanda), Kerrie (Joel) and Kaylan and her two great-grandchildren Farryn and Everett. Mom also leaves behind her sisters Anne Kruk and Nettie Kotchon, brothers Peter, Eddie, Steve, Harold and John Mazur and numerous nieces and nephews. We'll miss you Mom, your strong will, humour, kindness and generosity will be missed and will remain an inspiration to us all. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Winnipeg Paramedic crew, and staff at Concordia Hospital (especially Doctors Abdulrehman and St. Godard and Nurse Peaches), for their care and kindness in our Mother's time of need. A private family ceremony and interment has taken place; pallbearers were Mom's grandsons and honorary pallbearers were Mom's granddaughters. Those wishing to express gestures of kindness or remembrance may make a donation to a charity of their choice.
