VALERIE MARGARET MINAKER It is with profound sorrow that the family of Valerie Minaker announces her passing on Friday, April 10, 2015. Valerie will be dearly missed by her mother, Margaret Minaker, her four brothers, George, Bob (Diane), Frank (Petra), and Gerry (Cyndi). She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Rick (Lisa), Rod (Tanya), Joanne (Bryan Hogeveen), Brian (Alissa), Blake (Courtney), Evan (Jena) Amy, Melissa, Ryan and grand nieces and nephews Ayden, Ethan, Lauren, Taryk, Noah, Lorelei, Brayden, Maylah, Grayson and Talia. Valerie was predeceased by her father Gerald Minaker in 2002. Val was born November 4, 1954 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up on the family farm in the R.M. of Rosser. She graduated from Warren Collegiate and pursued a professional career as a Speech Pathologist. She was passionate about her work helping children and adults in Manitoba, Ontario and Alberta. Val was a gifted writer of poetry and biographies. She enjoyed music, flowers, dolphins, travel and extended conversations with family and friends. She had an endearing smile and gave great hugs. Val excelled in making lasting friends wherever she went. She was a dedicated aunt to her nieces and nephews and always enjoyed any opportunity to interact with them. Val possessed a very strong faith that sustained her throughout her lengthy illness. She will be dearly remembered and missed by all those who were fortunate to have known her. The family is most appreciative and thankful to the palliative care staff at the Health Sciences Center for their compassionate caring and support. A memorial service to celebrate Val's life will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Memorial donations can be made in support of ovarian cancer research care of CancerCare Manitoba. My sincere condolences to all the Minaker family. I remember Val from my school days in Rosser. I never did get to know her for who she really was, but, you must be very proud of the person she became.
