MYRA JOYCE SIGURDSON (SIM)
Born: Aug 18, 1939
Date of Passing: May 11, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRA JOYCE SIGURDSON (nee SIM) August 18, 1939 - May 11, 2015 Our loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, and has been re-united with her father, mother, two sisters, brother and brother-in-law. Joyce is survived by her loving husband Matt, of 57 years, her three sons Ken (Susan), Blair (Karren), and Dean (Shannon), and six grandchildren: Kris, Samantha, Nicole, Julie, Jenna and Tyler. Joyce was born in Winnipeg and in her own words, "I had a long and beautiful life". She lived in Chicago for a couple of years and Edmonton for almost two decades. It was in Edmonton that Joyce joined the once popular Beanie Baby fad and enjoyed the thrill of racing down the Whitemud Freeway to score a rare find. She was well-known for hosting family celebrations and countless dinners where she kept up with the tradition of making vinatarta. You might be gone now Mom, but the memories of you will be forever cherished. The family would like to thank their father Matt for the loving care he provided our mother Joyce throughout her journey. The family would also like to thank the home care nurses of the W.H.R.A. Thank you to Dr. Mitten Druve of the Renal Unit at Health Sciences Centre and the nurses at the GH-4 Unit at Health Sciences Centre for their care during her final days. A private family service will be held as per Joyce's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba in her memory.
