Date of Passing: May 12, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANZ PRZYBILSKI 1922 - 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Franz Przybilski on May 12, 2015. After a long life well lived, he leaves to mourn his wife of 60 years, Martha, daughters Marlies (Dick), Karin and Elke. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Lauren (Ryan), Jordan (Cora), Mahalia (Gerald), great-grandchildren Brooke, Moira and David. Franz began his life in Germany on December 6, 1922 and at the age of 18, was required to join the army and serve during the war. He was captured and became a prisoner of war in the United States and England. It was during these years that to pass the time, he began his love of writing poetry. At the end of the war, he returned to Germany to continue with his trade of being a linotype operator. Though this was how he made his living, in his soul he was a poet, an artist and a writer of songs. In 1956, along with his wife Martha, they immigrated to Canada to start a new life. Franz cherished the new country he came to call home. After he retired, Franz and Martha enjoyed 27 years dividing their time between their summer home at Brereton Lake and their winter home in Florida. It was during these years that he honed his poems and songs. Eventually, he made them into a book and his songs were sung by various Canadian choirs. Franz enjoyed reading, fishing, the beauty of the natural world around him, music and a good movie. He also enjoyed gardening and taught himself carpentry. Our sincere thanks to the staff at the Poseidon Care Centre whose care and kindness was appreciated by Franz and his family. Despite a lengthy illness with Parkinson's, Franz lived his life fully until the end. He will be sadly missed by all those who loved him.
