Date of Passing: May 18, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN THOMAS GEAREY It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the passing of Brian at St. Boniface Hospital on May 18, 2015 at the age of 67 years. Brian will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife Joan, son Kevin, daughter Laurie (Garrett) Nash, grandchildren Brooke (Tyler), Matthew, Nicholas, sister Debbie Gearey, brothers-in law Preston (Sandie) Taylor, Graham (Helen) Taylor and their respective families. Brian will be remembered for his great loyalty and devotion to his family and friends. Throughout his adult life he gave generously of himself to various community organizations, clubs, and charitable causes. In recent years Brian was fortunate to experience the joy of several travelling adventures, such as cruising throughout the Caribbean, exploring the vast beauty of Hawaii, and feeling the thrills of Las Vegas. Close to home, he enjoyed the fellowship of the Walleye Angler's Association of Manitoba (WAAM) Club which enabled him to revel in his love of sport fishing and boating. It was Brian's wish to return to Hawaii one day, as this was his newly discovered happy place. Therefore we will make this dream a reality and bring his cremains along with us when we also make our way back. We wish to express our sincere gratitude for the care and devotion provided by the various medical professionals throughout Brian's immense health challenges over the years. A celebration of Brian's life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that donations be directed to either The Canadian Diabetes Association of Manitoba or The Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Family and friends wishing to do so may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Dad, you will forever be our hero. You fought the good fight for so long, now you must rest. I met Brian in the mid 90's when we both worked at Kleysen Transport. When I was in town and he was off, I remember fishing the Red River with him a few times. He loved to fish. We then ran into each other again at the WAAM meetings and we did a lot of catching up there. Last summer after his doctors appointments, he would run around downtown to see which stores had shrimp and how much they were and then call me with a full report so we wold know where to go to get catfish bait. My sympathies to Joan and the family. Brian you were a man with a huge heart. RIP. A la prochaine mon ami! - Posted by: Dan Goulet (Friend) on: May 22, 2015
