BEV DUBOIS
Born: Mar 14, 1947
Date of Passing: Jun 12, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEV DUBOIS After a very brief illness and surrounded by family, Bev Dubois passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Bev was born on March 14, 1947 to Rita (Desmarais) Strand and George Strand in Kinistino, Saskatchewan. She grew up on a small farm outside of Weldon, Saskatchewan. In 1964 she followed her sister Janet and brother Cleve to Winnipeg where she spent the rest of her life. Always a farm girl at heart, she turned her backyard into a giant vegetable garden when she and Roger bought their home. In later years she replaced most of the vegetables with flowers. Bev spent most of her career working in accounting and payroll for a variety of companies and retired from Protelec Alarms. She enjoyed working but being at home with her family was where she thrived. Bev met Roger on a blind date and they got married six months later. Roger was her one and only love and made her life complete. She experienced even more happiness when she had her two daughters Nicole and Andrea. When her grandchildren Julian and Sarah came along, she got to relive that happiness, minus the 2:00 a.m. feedings. Bev brought balance to Roger's exuberance and many came to her for guidance and wisdom. She had no equal in making a place feel like home whether it was a rickety camper at the Oasis or a falling apart trailer at Lac du Bonnet. Bev started sewing when her girls were small and never stopped, creating clothes, pillows, slipcovers, quilts and Barbie doll clothes. She did needlepoint, crochet, knitting, upholstery and woodworking, even before Roger took it up (the woodworking, not the needle work). Bev made grand family dinners for 30 as easily as she did for her family of four. Wherever she was, her touches made it feel like home to anyone who visited. She travelled often with her family to Birch Hills to visit her parents and managed to convince them to start camping with them. As steadfast as Bev was, she loved excitement. She travelled to Disney World and rode as many roller coasters as her grandson, with just as much gusto. She convinced homebody Roger to travel to British Columbia and Quebec and went to Europe with her sister Janet. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters Nicole and Andrea (Ray) Yuen, grandchildren Julian Shore and Sarah Shore-Dubois, great-grandson Bentley Shore; sister Janet; bothers Cleve (Laura) and Barry (Anita); many special nieces and nephews; and many close friends. She was predeceased by her brother Ross, and her beloved husband Roger. A celebration of Bev's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2015 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens followed with a gathering of family and friends in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Family and friends wishing may sign a book of condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Aunt Bev will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She always accommodated and provided first class hospitality to my family when we'd visit the great Dubois family and all extended family members. Aunt Bev and Uncle Roger provided a warm, comfortable and loving household that was hard to leave. Andrea and Nicole, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. - Posted by: Roger Harding (Nephew) on: Jun 16, 2015

Andrea and Nicole, I am so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. The few times that I met her she was so warm, caring and made me feel so welcome in her home. I loved that she shared her plant clippings and baby tomato plants with me and anyone else who could lend a green thumb to an extension of her garden. She truly lives on in you both, whether it's when you pick up a needle and thread, read a book or tend to your gardens. I hope that happy memories can bring some comfort in these difficult times. - Cheryl - Posted by: Cheryl Lemoine (Friend of Andrea (Bev's daughter)) on: Jun 16, 2015
