LIONEL MARCEL LE HINGRAT With family at his side, Lionel Le Hingrat passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 84 years. Lionel is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Margaret, their children Lorraine (Larry) Hannah, Paul (Maria) LeHingrat, his brother Emile (Anne) Le Hingrat, sister-in-law Evelyn Kenny, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends, Aline and Yvette Duval. He was predeceased by a brother Robert (Anne) Le Hingrat and sister Gisèle (Wilbrod) Lemire, and parents Louis and Julienne Le Hingrat. Lionel was born August 17, 1930 in Cardinal, Manitoba. After finishing high school he moved to Winnipeg and secured his first full-time position at the Canadian Wheat Board. He later moved over to CNCP Telecommunications (Allstream), enjoying a long career there, eventually retiring after 35 years of service. Lionel had many diverse hobbies and especially enjoyed travelling, photography, gardening, fishing, curling, and bowling. He served the Knights of Columbus, Archwood Council for many years - rising to the title of Deputy Grand Knight. He was an accomplished handyman, not only keeping his house in good order but also sought out for his ability to repair just about any electronic item. While his interest in this waned over the years, he enthusiastically embraced the internet and used it to keep up with his many friends, family, and activities. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. • My lasting memory of my Uncle would be that when he cleared his throat you knew he was going to say something humourous. - Posted by: Rich Le Hingrat (Nephew ) on: Jun 16, 2022

  • I remember the many times Lionel, Margaret and Lorraine came out for a visit next door at the Kenny's. The family always made me feel welcome and I got much laughs when Lionel would tease me about some old boyfriend. My close friendship endures to this day with his daughter Lorraine whom we've been friends with for 55 years! All my condolences to Lorraine, Margaret and Paul and your families. He was indeed a true gentleman.
