REGINALD BERNHARD DYCK
Date of Passing: Jul 22, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREGINALD BERNHARD DYCK Peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, Reg was called to his heavenly home. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Henni (Hon); daughter Kirsten (Rodger) Morris; son Benjamin (Jacquie); and dear grandchildren, Alexis and Andrew Morris. He is also survived by his brothers, Lloyd (Barb) and Wilfred; mother-in-law, Elfriede Funk; sisters-in-law Louise (Don) McBeth, Erika (Hart) Federau, and Tanis Selver; brother-in-law Erich Funk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Reg was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Maria, and his father-in-law, Peter Funk. Raised in Altona, Reg moved to Winnipeg with his family in his late teens. Upon completion of high school, he furthered his education to become a Journeyman Electrician. He started his marriage and career living and working on Northern Hydro projects. Upon returning to Winnipeg he completed electrical code and secured employment with the City of Winnipeg as an electrical inspector. He was instrumental in overseeing some large industrial projects and was known and fondly referred to as a "Gentleman's Inspector" for his patience, guidance, and mentorship. He was meticulous, taking pride and ownership in his work. He loved singing and involved himself in various choral groups, allowing him the opportunity to travel and experience other parts of the world. A highlight was participating in the Mennonite Oratorio Choir, and singing "The Revelations Choral Score" in concert. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge, Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, and the Manitoba Genealogical Society. Reg also enjoyed the opportunities to travel with his family, taking many cherished family vacations. He utilized his carpentry skills, and he leaves a legacy of a cottage that he was instrumental in building. He enjoyed many pastimes at the cottage, from the simplicity of feeding the chickadees, gardening, or hosting grand get-togethers. Despite all the hard work, he was always grateful that he could share this good fortune. Once the grandchildren arrived he had a new focus, and was happiest when he could celebrate and share each new milestone with them. He had a strong faith in God, and as recently as two weeks ago, he told a friend that he was going to Heaven. A special thank you to family and friends for their support, in particular Roger Homenick for being a true friend. A celebration of Reg's life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay, Winnipeg. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
