LEONARD GILMOUR May 30, 1931 - August 29, 2015 "Len" as he was known to his friends and colleagues, passed away Saturday, August 29 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Known as "Alberta Slim" in his Rodeo Days, Len had lived a "full" and very colourful life. He settled down and married his second wife Sonya, had a son, Lance and moved from Whitehouse, Yukon to Winnipeg in 1959 to 1960. He worked in construction, mostly as an Electrician for the next 39 years in Winnipeg. Many knew him as one to always jump in and help. Born in 1931 in Beloy, Alberta, predeceased by his parents, Ira and Ruby Gilmour, Len's siblings, Carl, Floyd and Oni, as well as niece, Gwen. Survived by Sonya Gilmour of Winnipeg, Lance Gilmour of Billings, Montana; nephews, Ken Gilmour and family at Rose Prairie, BC; Dale Gilmour and family at Calgary, Darrel Gilmour of BC; sisters-in-law, Denise Gilmour and Heather Gilmour. All the family and anyone who knew him will never forget him for all his stories of the early homestead years in his life. He chose to live his life as he wanted. He wanted no fanfare, so please no flowers. As per his request, his ashes will be placed at the foot of the Grand Tetons. The family also wishes to thank all the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their help and dedication. • I have known Leonard & family since 1960. We used to hang out together until he went away suddenly. The last time I saw him was 2 months ago at the bank & we chatted up for 10 minutes. Read about him to-day, Sep. 5,2015 & would like to extend my condolences to his family. - Posted by: Linden Fitzgerald (Friend) on: Sep 05, 2015
