WALTER KARSCHUK It is with profound sadness that I, Carol-Anne (Carol) announce the passing on October 1, 2015 of my dearly beloved husband, Walter. Also in deep sorrow for a much loved father, our daughter Lesley Muir, son Blake, and son-in-law Robert Tapper. Others feeling our loss are sister Inga, her daughter Maureen and her sons Jeff and Doug, sister Olivia, her daughter Karen and son Paul, and Walt's brother-in-law Vern Prior and wife Lois. Walter grew up in St. Vital and attended Norberry School and Glenlawn Collegiate. In his younger years, he coached hockey and did some refereeing. His business career covered a lengthy time with Noxzema and then Procter & Gamble. During his time with Noxzema, he received an acknowledgment from a pharmaceutical company as the year's outstanding salesman. The next year he received the same honour again. This recognition was given to him as the first non-pharmaceutical salesman and was treasured by Walt. Walter retired in 1991 and had the pleasure of enjoying 24 years of retirement. Walt was highly respected by both his customers and peers in the industry. Walter was a wonderful provider and loved his family so much. He was so very proud of his children. Walter fulfilled his lifelong dream on his 70th birthday by going with his kids to Dodger Stadium to watch a game. It was such a thrill for him. He also enjoyed the Jets and Goldeyes games. Many good times were had at his Thursday morning breakfast club as well. In celebration of Walter's life, a service will be held on Thursday, October 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A donation in Walt's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, if so desired. Flowers gratefully declined.

  • Walter Karschuk was my uncle on my Mom's side of the family, and the one person who taught me about sports when I was very young, and when my dad was not around he was there for me. He was a great friend and teacher. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and made me very proud to say he was my uncle. Jeff P. Mills - Posted by: Jeff P. Mills (Nephew) on: Apr 14, 2021
