Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMONICA HILDEGARDE TERESA ROUCEK It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Monica Hildegarde Teresa Roucek in the early morning of October 5, 2015, after a 25 year battle with multiple brain tumours. She was predeceased by her partner Patrick Brandle, her brother Walter Roucek, and her parents Wilhelm and Frieda Roucek; and is survived by her two sons, Michael and Kevin Pauley. Monica was born in Winnipeg on March 17, 1958 to parents who had immigrated to Canada in order to provide a future for their new family. It was family that Monica valued above all else. Even when her illness began to take its toll, it was her love that tied her family together and reminded them of the importance of the bond they shared. Monica's intellect and hard work led her to become the Chief Financial Officer for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. However, her true pride was that of a mother; packing lunches, sewing Halloween costumes from scratch, and acting as parent council president at her children's school. A talented pianist, Monica shared her love of music with all who knew her. Her family would like to thank her Palliative Care team, as well as the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for all of their care and support. A celebration of life will be held at the Canoe Club, 40 Dunkirk Drive, Friday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

We've missed Monica since she left our office due to her illness. She often shared stories of her family, including her dogs and lake adventures and always had a smile for us every day! Rest in Peace! - Posted by: Marnie Donovan (Former Co-Worker, Dean's Office, Faculty of Medicine) on: Oct 07, 2015
