LUMAN GERALD BEAUMONT
Date of Passing: Oct 09, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUMAN GERALD BEAUMONT 1925 - 2015 Unexpectedly, on Friday October 9, 2015, Luman (Lou) passed away peacefully in his sleep in the home he built and loved. Lou was born in Winnipeg and lived his entire life in Transcona where, following three years overseas in the Second World War, he worked as a Millwright and machinist for over 25 years at the Canadian National Railway. Always willing to improve his station in life Lou took evening classes at the University of Manitoba ultimately completing his Bachelor of Pedagogy Degree and embarking on his second career as a High School teacher in Winnipeg. Lou was admired by his students and staff at Tec Voc and RB Russell High Schools before retiring after twenty years from the Winnipeg School Division. Always a consummate wood worker, Lou spent many of his pre and post retirement years in his work shop creating projects for friends and family and helping in many house and cottage repairs. Self-taught in plumbing and electrical, Lou was often called upon by neighbors and friends to lend a helping hand followed by a celebratory drink. While both in good health Lou and his wife Janet (predeceased in 2008) travelled extensively in Canada, USA, Europe and Asia. At the age 84 Lou suffered a stroke which left him unable to speak. Despite this loss of this faculty Lou continued to make new friends, was active in his community, and enjoyed his outings with friends and family in Transcona, Gull Lake and Granite Lake. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Janice, Lee and Cindy, Lee's wife Rhonda, Cindy's husband Rick; grandchildren, Nancy, Kaitlin and Jordan, and extended family. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematorium 1800 Day St. from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral Arrangements in Care of: Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street - 204-224-1525 Please sign the book of memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com

My sincere condolences to Janice, Lee, Cindy and family. I have many good memories of your father as a next door neighbor and later in life when I would drop in to say hello. Both he and your mom always welcomed me back into their home so we could get caught up with our families throughout the years. His wonderful character is what still makes me smile today thinking of our many conversations of Standard Aero, T-56 engines, and the Air Force something we both had in common. May all of you find peace in the coming days, my thoughts are with you at this time. - Posted by: Nina O`Flaherty (Family Friend and Neighbor) on: Oct 23, 2015

Lou,was a very Dear person in my life. How Friendships escalate,I respected and loved and treated him like a Father .I know it is a very big loss to you and your Family, and I want you to know for me it will also be a very very big adjustment in my life, in not having to pick up my friend for " BRKY ", in the mornings. He was an outstanding person,in that he almost knew half the people in the Restaurant shaking hands with all he knew and will be missed by all these friends of his. He was an integral part at our table in that he would laugh and be interested in all our comments. And also, although he could not speak,we knew by his actions what he wanted to say. What a loss for all of us,you and your Family were Blessed that you had such a Great Father and that he was there for all of you as long as he could REST IN PEACE LUMAN. He like myself experienced a early part of our youth in simular circumstances,we were both in the Royal Air Force in w.w. 2 this exposure in part shaped our lives, and determined what it would become, I recall many times he mentioned this to me.he had his opinion and I likewise.we understood each other.Being the same age I reflect and compare. If only the world was full of lue Beamounts it would be wonderful place. He was the excellent husband father and GRANDFATHER and ofcourse a great neighbour.Maybe because he was such a amicable person, and so darn good at anything he put his mind and hand too, even when he had a problem talking. His rewardis a peacefull rest.A job well done Lue.You have left a excellant example for other to follow.Hope they take the time to reminise. For myself its time for the Ram to be put with the ewes, and life will go on here in the Vally.I have lots of time to think about you. hope you are watching me.
