LILLIAN ETHEL SPENCE (nee KENT) January 17, 1945 - October 28, 2015 Migisi Miikinaak Ikwe Suddenly on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, our beloved mother, grandmother, Kokum, great-grandma, great-great-grandmother, sister, cousin and friend was called home. With her children, sisters, and family by her side, she went home to be with Creator. Her faith in Jesus was so deep. She loved to go to church services and pow-wows. Every chance she got she would attend ceremonies. Mom had so many friends and relatives. She had many friends both near and far. She loved to dance. She was a traditional dancer. She was always participating in pow-wows in our community. She loved to sing, she always sang gospel songs, and always sang at wakes. She always shared her knowledge, wisdom and teachings with every one she met, people that met her would call her "grandma". Lillian is survived by her children, Nancy (Richard) Bruyere, Evelyn Letander, Elsie Dorie, Leslie (Gloria) Dorie, Harold (Florence) Dorie, Stanley Jr. (Barb) Dorie, Mike Dorie (Donna), Lorne Spence, Darryl Spence and her adopted son Rock Fontaine, 36 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence "Quate" Buboire, Margaret "Deenk" Bruyere, Isabel Kent, Edna Johnston and brother Bill and Doreen Meade, John "Banar" Kent and George Matthew Courchene; brother-in-law Ambrose Bunn, sister-in-law Linda Dorie and the Spence family and many cousins and relatives. She was deceased by her parents Matthew and Agnes Kent, brother Fred and Lillian Kent, sister Harriet "Aniach" Bunn, grandchildren Waylon Dorie, Crystal Dorie, and great-granddaughter Farrah Courchene. Pallbearers, Nelson Bunn, Nathan Dorie, David Dorie, Leslie Junior Dorie, Tony Dorie, Christy Dorie, Linda Dorie, Steven Dorie, Nicklas Stranger, Darren Kent; Cross Bearer, Vincent Dorie. The family would like to thank the Pine Falls Hospital, the Dialysis Unit nurses, whom she loved and had deep respect for, and the Sagkeeng Home Care Workers; Geraldine Kent, Tania Bunn, Anita Laforte, Sheila Twoheart, and Tammy Morrisseau; and also the Staff at the Emergency Department at the St. Boniface Hospital, for their care and compassion. Wake Service begins on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Anglican Church Hall. The Funeral service will be on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Church Anglican Fort Alexander, Sagkeeng First Nation with viewing starting at 12:00 noon. The Funeral services will be officiated by Reverends Richard and Nancy Bruyere, Reverend Ernest Macpherson and Fr. Augustine. Proverbs 31:25 to 31:28 Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed.
