EDWARD BOHUN Edward Victor Bohun passed away peacefully, family at his side, at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, on Friday, October 30, 2015, at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by his parents Stephen and Alexandra Bohun and by his sister Gladys Karst, Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife Deanna Bohun, and by his son James (Melanie) Bohun of Edmonton, and two grandchildren Samuel and Adam Bohun. Also remembering Ed are his siblings Fred Bohun of Kelowna and Vera Nickel of Vancouver, as well as several in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Ed Bohun was born on January 1, 1937 on the family farm near Viceroy, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 18, where during his eight years of service he received the training in radio telecommunications that became the basis of his later career. Ed and Deanna were married in Winnipeg in 1966. Son Jim arrived in 1969, while they lived in Regina. Ed's career in radio telecommunications took the Bohuns across the four western provinces where they made many good friends. Their years in Tsawwassen, BC are especially fondly remembered. It was here that Ed furthered his love of sailing and purchased the sailboat that took them on many family excursions and vacations along the beautiful British Columbia coast. He was never happier than when on his boat. Ed concluded his career in Winnipeg, where he and Deanna retired. In his retirement he enjoyed cooking, gardening and fishing. His homegrown tomatoes are legendary. In February of 2015 Ed was diagnosed with cancer, and, while chemotherapy treatments provided some relief, a rapid turn for the worse began in mid-October. The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Victoria General Hospital for their kindness and professionalism in caring for Ed during his final days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. If friends so desire, a donation may be made in Ed's memory to the charity of their choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • I never got to know your husband. It sounds like he was sick for about the same length of time Dennis was, with different treatments. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God give you strength to cope with the lonely days and nights ahead. - Posted by: Thelma Guenther (childhood freind of Deanna) on: Nov 03, 2015
