Florence, Brenda, and Wendy, I am sorry I will be unable to attend the funeral. I had hoped to rearrange my schedule but was unable to do so. I have fond memories of Bill, his cigar, and his smile from so many Christmas Eves on Tweed Avenue. Paula - Posted by: Paula V. Mehmel (cousin) on: Nov 11, 2015

I was shocked to hear of Bill's sudden passing. I had the honour to curl against Bill in the Thursday morning,October 30th Granite's Master's league game and as usual joked with Bill many times during the game as we always did when we curled one another. Bill Mehmel is and will always be remembered as a legend in Manitoba's curling history. Although fiercely competitive, Bill had class and always had a smile on his face, a short laugh and a humorous comment to make whether to his teammates or his opponents. Although in his 80's, Bill never seemed to age. His curling delivery never changed....straight and steady out of the hack and to the broom every time. My deepest condolences to Bill's family. May Bill find a curling league in heaven. He and his infectious personality will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Ronald Smith (Former teammate, curling colleague and friend) on: Nov 07, 2015

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Condolences to "Flo" and family.I curled with Bill in the early '70's at Strathcona CC. Fine gentleman and very competetive curler. We had lots of laughs and we really curled and joked well together. We will miss him. - Posted by: Wayne Motheral (curling buddy) on: Nov 07, 2015
