LUISE SCHWAB Peacefully at home, surrounded by family, Luise passed away on November 5, 2015. Survived by her three children: Sylvia, Chris and Patricia, and two grandchildren: Joshua and Shalla all in Winnipeg. Luise immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1958 at the ripe age of 25 with her two young children Sylvia and Fredy. Coming straight to Winnipeg Luise found employment cleaning offices, and then found work as a nurses aide at the Municipal Hospitals. Luise retired in 1993 as lead hand in instrument processing at Victoria Hospital. Luise used her retirement to help raise her grandson Joshua, maintain her garden and care for her cats. She was passionate about feeding the wildlife in her garden and her many charities that she gave to on a regular basis. Losing you is the hardest thing any of your loved ones could imagine. Now that this most difficult time has arrived it's easy for us to recall why you are so important to us. A woman of genuine strength, you lived through a world war, struggled through many hard economic times, and raised four wonderful children almost on your own. Tragically losing your son Alfred, something no parent should endure. Despite all of your challenges you maintained an attitude of determination. Driven to ensure that those around you were supported before considering yourself. Never succumbing to pity or doubt. Living with great charity, despite humble means. You slipped away quickly, surrounded by photos and loved ones at home. Thank you for giving us these past two months. As you cared for all of our needs when we came into this life, we were blessed to do the same for you as you prepared for the next. Join us in celebrating the life of Luise at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home in Headingley, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Just recently found out about the untimely passing of Luise, and was most saddened to hear of this. A good person with a world of strength in both good times and bad. I had great respect of her, and was honored to have know her, even if only for a brief period. The torch has now been passed to her children and grand children to carry on her legacy of good nature, kindness and compassion towards both people, as well as our furry friends. You'll be missed. Well done, good and faithful servant! Reginald B. - Posted by: Reginald Bartlette (former mother-in-law) on: Aug 29, 2016

I am so sorry for your loss. Oma was the kindest and most genuine person I've ever been so lucky to know. Her generosity and compassion towards my own family, as well as her many gardening lessons over tea and her famous sour cream cheesecake, will live for ever in my heart. Song birds of every kind and bright, colourful blooms will continuosly remind me of her strong and beautiful Spirit. Much love and condolences from Cecy Echeverria and Greg Kilppenstein - Posted by: Cecilia Echeverria (Family friend (espacially Chris)) on: Nov 12, 2015

We are sorry for your loss. The Schwab family and the Kluger family have shared so many memories over the years, and we will all remember Luise fondly. - Posted by: Kelly and Harold Kluger (Family Friends) on: Nov 11, 2015

Loved being in her home while I lived in Winnipeg. Her life stories were amazing to listen to. I just loved her garden. She could make flowers bloom. I feel blessed to have known her. Sylvia has the same common sense her mother had. My thoughts and prayers are with Sylvia, Klaus, and their family during this time. I feel happy knowing she is out of pain and is getting to know her son, Fred again. - Posted by: Marlene Simpson (Family friend, especially Sylvia) on: Nov 09, 2015

Sylvia, Klaus, your siblings and close family. Mothers are special. They hold the family together. During these last two months, I felt your pain . As we age , we become the mother, and they become the child. The circle of life continues as your mother will be looking down on her three girls and watching over you, as her children once again. My condolences to you alll..She was given the best care in all of your concerns and though she may have moved to a quieter place, it will be someone new who will enjoy the perennials she planted. - Posted by: Laurie Gydé (Friend) on: Nov 09, 2015

A beautiful smile and caring nature is easily taken from the lovely photo of your mom, Pat. These qualities shine in you and your children, there is no doubt. Please take care, it is so very hard. May the ache be lifted by loving recollection of everyday simple moments with your mom and the crazy funny laugh out loud ones. - Posted by: Stacey Kuhl (Colleague and friend of Pat) on: Nov 08, 2015

LUISE was a strong determined woman who passed this on to her children. Just knowing she has moved on to another place of peace and where she no longer has to endure any pain and suffering is a blessing. LUISE has now reunited with her son as they together will watch over the remainder of her family with Love and Compassion, you are never alone. Blessing of Love, internal peace and understanding be with you all. - Posted by: Gloria Bailey (Family Friend, especially Sylvia) on: Nov 07, 2015

We were so lucky to have your Mom and Oma as a neigbour for 16 years, but most of all to have her as such a great friend. She was a wealth of information on gardening, which we needed desperately. Seeing her outside every day in the summer was always a treat and we spent many talks about gardening, but also about life and family. We hated to move away as we knew we would never find such a wonderful person next door again. So we share in your grief and hope that in time you will look back on the wonderful memories you had with her as we will. Much love from David and Marja to all of you and much strength in the coming weeks. - Posted by: Marja and David Ranson (Neoghbours and friends) on: Nov 07, 2015
