Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYDIA JEAN WINNIFRED FRANKS (nee LATTER) (LONEY) The family of Lydia Franks (Winnie) (Toots) sadly announce her passing on October 30, 2015 at 91 years of age. We say goodbye to a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Winnie is predeceased by her father John Latter, mother Jessie Boyd, stepfather Jim Boyd; brothers Gordon in infancy, Bev Boyd, Donald (Olive) Latter; and husband Burt Loney. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon Franks of Alberta and his family; her three children James (Donna) Loney, Valerie (Allan) Boyd, Kenneth (Wendy) Loney; grandchildren Kathleen Loney (Randy Kerr), James (Kaitlyn) Loney, Jenny (Michael) Payment, Jamie (Kelly) Boyd, Stephanie (Kyle) Curtis, Michael (Kaitlyn) Loney, Steven (Lori) Loney, Christopher Loney; great-grandchildren Carson Caplette, Mathieu and Monica Boyd, Joshua and Sydney Votto, Mackenzie Curtis, Clara Loney and numerous nieces and nephews. Winnie was born in Deloraine, Manitoba. She served in the Canadian Navy (WRC&S). She cared and fostered numerous children. She had a green thumb, could crotchet and knit up a storm, was notorious for her pies, loved the outdoors and got great pleasure from a day of fishing. Thank you to the staff at Victoria Hospital and the Rosewood Home for their care and respect. In keeping with Winnie's great compassion for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal shelter of your choice. A private family gathering will be held with interment to take place in Neepawa at the Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
