WM. JOHN KILLBERY
Born: Oct 07, 1931
Date of Passing: Nov 06, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWM. JOHN KILLBERY October 7, 1931 - November 6, 2015 With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John was born in Souris, MB, moving to Winnipeg in the mid forties. He worked in the family business (Killbery Industries) for many years as it evolved from a small gas station to a large farm implement manufacturer, later to become MacDon Industries. After more than 50 years of service he retired as Director of Product Planning but performed many roles there in both Engineering and Manufacturing. He married Gail in 1952 and they moved to Headingley in 1962 with their five children. He was one of the founders of Phoenix Community Club and in 1969 he decided to pursue his passion for power sports, founding Headingley Sport Shop, a now successful Polaris dealership. John was a quiet and principled man, respected by many. He loved being busy, always "tinkering" on something, NASCAR, dogs and, of course, his family. When Gail's health was failing he stayed by her side for two years until her passing. Later he enjoyed the local coffee shop, Headingley Seniors Group and visiting in the community. He passed away eight years to the day of Gail's death. John leaves behind his children: Jan (Butch), Jamie (Darrell), Jody (Jack), Bob (Bev) and Jill; his brother Don (Mary); grandchildren Michael, Jennifer (Jay), Taylor (Claire), Mitchell, Dusty (Jack), Mindy (Devin), Tobi (Mike), Jordan (Ashley), Sara (Matt), Kelly and Robyn; great-grandchildren Meka, Olivia, Bentley, Wylie, Elliott, Zoey and Beckham. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Oakview Nursing Home. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Prostate Support Group, Box 315, 971 Corydon Avenue or www.manpros.org/donate. It has been almost 3 years since you left us Papa John and not a day goes by we don’t miss you. I know you are reunited with Grandma and finally at peace. You were always such a strong, hardworking and busy man and I always respected that. I just want you to know that I miss you and Grandma and think about you all the time. I know I may have never said it enough when you were here, but I love you!!!! - Posted by: Michael Killbery (Grandson) on: Oct 10, 2018

It is a sad day for those you leave behind, But a good day to remember all the kind things you have done in this world. It was a pleasure to know you, my first boss at Macdon way back in the 70's, reap the benefit of your wisdom,... adopt your ways of both caring and teaching others. We learn something from everyone we meet, you truly were a pinnacle of that process John. we'll see you on the other side....Bruce - Posted by: Bruce T. McKee (Freind/ coworker) on: Nov 10, 2015
