Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) LAWRENCE May 29, 1933 - November 10, 2015 It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Jim Lawrence, much loved father and grandfather. Jim was born the day after his twin sister Mary in Dauphin, MB and was raised on the family farm along with sisters Ruth and Margaret. Jim was a kind gentle person who had a great love of the land. Although he moved to Winnipeg in 1970 with his wife Joan and four children, he continued to work his century farm while working fulltime at Powell Equipment. His last trip to prepare the farm for winter was just a few weeks before his death. After the death of his beloved wife Joan, Jim met a wonderful lady on a church trip to Cuba. Six months later he married his soul mate Peggy. They had 16 great years together, living life to the fullest before he lost his dear Peg 6 months ago. Jim could never say no when asked to do something thus he sat on many committees and loved to do so. They included AOTS, Larche and the Transcona Church Presbytery. He loved to keep busy volunteering and had many years building houses for Habitat for Humanity. He took great comfort from his church and loved to sing in the choir. In his free time he enjoyed curling. He will be greatly missed by his children Robert (Deb) Lawrence, Laurie (Jim) Green, Joyce (Neil) Sorenson, Beverly (Shane) Olson, stepchildren Lane Hunt, Michael ManyEagles, 13 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, sisters and friends. A celebration of James' life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West. Reception will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Canad Inns, 826 Regent Avenue West. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

...there are some beautiful things in the world, and Jim and Peggy's love story is one of them...the most beautiful and happy moment of my life without a doubt, besides you know, having children and falling in love with my nichimoose, was them meeting. My mother spent her entire life doing things for other people and pouring her love into everything around her, and to meet a man who was so perfect for her, their love being so beautiful, sincere and affecting so many of us...well...you know the saying "nice guys finish last"?!? Not this time, baby, not this time. Jim Lawrence finished first. They deserved each other, in so many ways. Yep. - Posted by: Michael ManyEagles (Son) on: Nov 14, 2015
