CAROL ANN POULIN (nee THRUSSELL) Peacefully, on the morning of November 16, 2015, Carol Poulin (nee Thrussell) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 57. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 38 years, Serge, her daughters Alysa and Chantal (Jay), the light of her life; her granddaughter Ellie; her siblings Lynn, Cindy, Doug, and Leslie, her mother-in-law Gilberte, as well as her brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ed and Rita Thrussell, and her father-in-law, Marc Poulin. Carol was born on May 9, 1958 in Nottingham, England to an Air Force family. Throughout her childhood the family relocated often and called many places home. However, her most cherished memories were of their time in Colorado Springs. Just after her high school graduation her family moved to Winnipeg where she met the love of her life, Serge. She enjoyed her years as a Girl Guide leader where she was a mentor and role model to many girls. Carol's free time was spent cross-stitching, spending time with her dogs, Maggie and Buster, and playing with Ellie. A celebration of Carol's life will be held on November 20, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1006 Nairn Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, unit assistants, and support staff of the GD3 ward at the Health Sciences Centre. The professional and compassionate care Carol received was a great comfort to her and her family. • Dear Serge, Alysa and Chantal, it was about 17 years ago when the Cartmans introduced our family to yours. No one knew at that time that our three families would have so much in common and this first family get together would lead our families to many years of shared joy. All our children seemed to get along well and to this day they still have a connection with each other. For more than a dozen years, us adults (and I use that term loosely) spent many a Saturday night playing cards, dominoes or perhaps just chatting about life events. We never knew if our Saturday night was going to be a quick paced card playing event or an evening of head on wit vs wit times 6. No matter how the evening started then unfolded, the ending was almost always the same; we all had a huge smile on our face and a sore stomach from laughing so much (or was it too much snacky puffs that left us with sore stomachs?). Serge, it was very clear from the first time we met that Carol is your soul mate and she was definitely 'one of the gang' at the card table. The beautiful cross stitchings hanging throughout our house and our daughter's house, will be a constant reminder of how much Carol loved life and how she used her talents to transfer this feeling of love into beautiful art. We hope you find comfort in knowing that the Poulins have brought joy, love, laughter and caring into our lives. During this time of great sadness, we pray that our Lord will be with you, support you and guide you, so your lives are once again filled with joy, love and purpose.
