Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURIEL EDITH SCHUETZ (neé REYNOLDSON) January 30, 1930 November 16, 2015 In the early hours of November 16 at Concordia Hospital our beloved mother left us suddenly to join her husband Bert (Mickey). They had been sweethearts for 65 years when Dad passed in 2014, and now they are reunited in a place without pain. Their marriage began in Neidpath, Saskatchewan in 1947, bloomed in Regina and was transplanted to Winnipeg in 1969. They raised a son, Warren, and two daughters, Lois (Farley Cates), and Judith (Norm Wasney). They enjoyed loving times with their grandchildren Rayna Anderson (Chris Ractliffe), Evan Anderson (Laine Hoogstraten), Keith Wasney (Kelsey) and Neil Wasney; and with their great-grandson Drake Anderson. Also celebrating a lifetime of happy memories of Muriel are her siblings, Lauretta Bell and George Reynoldson (Sandy) in Regina and their children, along with other cherished extended family. Muriel was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Annie Reynoldson. At various times Mom worked at Simpson-Sears in Regina, Sears in Winnipeg, and at Bethania Personal Care Home. But her true vocation was in the home, keeping a house that could pass the white glove test, baking pies, butter tarts and Christmas plum puddings that will never be surpassed, and setting her kids on the straight and narrow. She loved listening to Lawrence Welk music, and singing and dancing round the kitchen along with Sing Along with Mitch and any impudent Rogers & Hammerstein song. She loved cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders. And quietly discussing the day's and the world's events with Dad at the end of a meal. Most of all she enjoyed growing, harvesting and preserving her garden the lush silk flowers that she hid amongst her plants fooled many a passerby into thinking her thumb was greener than it was. She loved getting us all together for anniversaries, birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas and lived for her weekly visits with her kids. Mom was the backbone of the family, and a 100% equal partner with her husband. She helped to build their Regina home from the basement to the roof, swinging a hammer and climbing ladders. Dad brought home the pay, but she pinched those pennies until they squealed, so that we never did without, and in the end she achieved her lifelong dream of seeing Hawaii with Dad 17 times. She was protective and direct and tenacious and devoted, and also fun. We hope we have honoured her by infusing those qualities into our own lives and those of the next generation. It just won't be the same without you, mom. A celebration of her life will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 24. Those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers may, to the Alzheimer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion Joint Hospital Visiting Committee, 563 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg R2M 3L6.
