Born: Oct 26, 1946
Date of Passing: Nov 13, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID ALEXANDER CREIGHTON David Alexander Creighton passed away peacefully on November 13, 2015 in Winnipeg, Mb at the age of 69. Dave is survived by his father Robert Creighton; his children Michael (Teresa), Chad (Jeannie, Kay-Lynn, Sophie and Max), Matthew (Nicole), Kellie (Mitch); the mother of his children, Donna; his siblings Elizabeth (John) and Marilyn (Bruno). He is preceded in death by his mother Helen Creighton and his brother John Creighton. Dave was born on October 26, 1946 in Toronto, Ontario to Helen and Bob Creighton. Upon graduating from Leaside High in Toronto, Dave spent many years soaking up the sun in Mexico and Hawaii before he planted roots in Manitoba. It is here that he continued his work as an insurance adjustor for 44 years. Shortly after, he met Donna and they joined families and raised four beautiful children together. His family remember him as a hilarious and fun loving man who was always front and centre in helping his children pursue their dreams. Dave was always happiest when he was chasing the sun in his backyard, watching the Blue Jays and Jets, and coming up with quirky nicknames for all of the important people in his life. However, nothing can compare to the joy he exuded just by simply being in the presence of his family. Dave was extremely proud of all of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will truly be missed by all of the countless lives he has touched. A celebration in honour of Dave's life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m on Friday, November 27 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers and cards the family asks that you support Plan Canada by giving a gift hope or a donation to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue: charities that were close to Dave's heart. Dave, you were and always will be one of the bright spots in my life while working at Crawford & Company. Your nickname for me (Miss Ellie) is still around to this day. I am so glad I got a chance to visit with you when I was last out to Winnipeg. You were a kind, fun-loving man and I will cherish the memories always. - Posted by: Ellen (Friend/Co-worker) on: Nov 27, 2015

First I would like to said Dave is a GREAT!! guy. We worked many years together in the insurance claims ind. I always looked forward to the road trips we made together. The things that he would say would kept me laughing the hole time we were out. One thing that comes to mind is that he would like to stop at the northern cemetery's along the way. He loved to the read the wording on the old headstones that told the story of their coming. He would always have something to add. I have missed the good times we had. Thanks for being you. I have so many great memories of Mr Creighton, from spending time with Kellie when we were younger. His home felt like home, he was kind and funny and always looking to make sure we were having fun. I remember tents in the living room, car rides to school, letting us listen to the girly music, Disney on Ice, and just always being around. I remembering knowing that the family was so lucky, because he was such a great dad. I think of him and Tigger every time I drive past the house. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I still remember the good times we had at Adjuster's Canada. Dave was so welcoming to me, and I always felt he truly appreciated us all. His nickname for me was 'Santa's Little Helper' which was well intended, but laughable knowing I shared the same name as the Simpson's dog!! That was him, fun to be around. - Posted by: Teresa Chmelnytzki (co-worker) on: Nov 26, 2015

What a kind, funny man you were Dave. A friend, always willing to lend a hand and greet you with a smile. The world will miss you but the essence of who you were will be remembered by those lucky enough to have known you. - Posted by: Sandy Marcou (Friend) on: Nov 26, 2015

Dave will surely be missed by all who knew him. He made us all laugh at work and he did have a "nickname" for each of us. He never took things too serious and was a man of his word. He would always help us when needed and I will surely miss joking around with him. He most definitely was a "character" and a joy to work with. - Posted by: Caryl (Co-worker) on: Nov 23, 2015

Dave was one of a kind. Always there for you and ready to put a smile on your face. Yes he had a name for everyone and I was Hanger. "Hanger, smoke break lets go" even though I did not smoke we always had a good conversation. Dave was an honest caring person and always said I may have only billed three hours today but they are honest hours. He was a man of high integrity. I will miss him every day. Dave you will be treasured - Posted by: Cliff (Friend and co-worker) on: Nov 22, 2015

Dave you have always been a huge part of our lives. Your little brother John, loved you so much and often went to you for advice or just enjoyed "shooting the breeze" on your regular phone calls, even though you lived far away in Winnipeg. We always loved your yearly visits spending time with us, joking around and laughing and eating "burgs or pie". I will always remember your belly laugh, silly jokes and stories which always made me laugh. After John passed away you were always there to talk with Allie and I; a relationship we will always treasure. Allie would often share with me the silly jokes you would email her and when I would hear her laughing on the phone I would always know it was her Uncle Dave she was speaking to. Dave you always made Allie feel special realizing that she needed that male figure in her life and for that I will always be grateful. I will miss our regular talks - but I am glad to know you are now at peace and with your mother and brother. One more big "squeeze". Uncle Dave was a true character and the biggest (and best) personality in any room he was in. We always looked forward to his Toronto visits and I am so happy my wife, son and daughter had a chance to know him. I will always be so grateful that he took in Fat Cat (Belle) and treated her like the rest of the Winnipeg feline family, even though she can be a handful for anyone but the "main man" in her life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Donna, Michael, Chad, Matthew and Kelly (and families). We will celebrate the good times next week... - Posted by: Mike De Petrillo (Nephew) on: Nov 21, 2015

After seeing me chew the tip of a piece of grass in little league Dave always asked me "How's the farm?" every time he saw me. I still remember him letting out a big laugh one December when I told him I was planting "Winter Weed" He was so funny, and loved having fun so much. Thank You Mr. Creighton - Posted by: Al (Friend) on: Nov 21, 2015
