HAZEL FERENS On Tuesday, November 24, 2015, our mom passed into the hands of her Lord at 5:30 a.m. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Andy; her parents, Edith and Austin Tooke, and younger sisters, Shirley and Joyce. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, son James and his wife, Sylvia, son Robert and his wife, Sandra; grandchildren, Michael (Megan, great-grandchildren Ricky and Claire), Brian Joel, Randall, Anthony, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Winnipeg on December 31, 1920. She married Andrew Ferens on March 17, 1945. Hazel was a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and later a dental assistant. Hazel loved her cottage in Gimli and the many holidays she took with family and friends. She enjoyed playing Bingo every week and swimming at the Y and Sherbrook Pool. Hazel took great pleasure in caring for her mother-in-law, parents, husband, children, grandchildren, and neighbours. Hazel will be remembered for her fun loving nature, her hard work ethics, her stubbornness, and her independence. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and swimmer. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honour to CancerCare or a charity of your choice.
