DAVID ALLEN PASHNIAK March 5, 1941 - November 24, 2015 Following a lengthy illness, Dave Pashniak passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital on November 24, 2015. Dave was born to Helen and Mike Pashniak in Moose Jaw, SK. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernie, his father, Michael and his mother, Helen. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Missy), his beloved children Andrea Boyd (Conor), Dan Pashniak (Diana Maxymowich)) and five grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Daniel Boyd, Sebastien and Emma Pashniak, and Luke and Kyra Maxymowich. He also leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Elaine Ostrom (Gary) and her family, his brother John Pashniak (Gay) and his family, his brother Ernie's wife Carol and his children, as well as his favourite aunts and uncles, Rose and Ralph Bourgeois, and Yvette and Mike Lech and their families. On his wife's side he will be dearly missed by his father-in-law Graham Bannatyne, his brother and sister-in-law Steve and Jean and their family, plus many extended family members. Dave loved to cook. His talents as a chef were known far and wide, as he entertained family and friends from within Canada and the U.K., as well as when on vacation in Hawaii. Before his illnesses, Dave was in the process of writing a cookbook to share with family and friends. His grandchildren will cherish the times spent loading pizzas with those delicious toppings. Of course, grandpa made the pizza dough! Dave was very proud of his career as an Engineer. He held a Master's degree in Civil Engineering. Most of his very successful career was with Acres International as Vice-President and Acres Manitoba Ltd. as President. He participated in major hydroelectric and flood control projects all over the world. He spoke often of his and his family's adventures while living in Brazil for three years, when his children were young. He loved those years in Brazil and was very happy to have shared them with Andrea and Dan. To the day he died, Dave was fluent in Portuguese! Dave had a passion for golf. Before severe back injuries and cancer took over, Dave and Linda, together with family and friends, enjoyed playing golf courses in Canada, the USA and Mexico. He was a good golfer, but being a powerfully built man, he sometimes had difficulty tempering his swing! In his youth, Dave considered a professional career in football with the Saskatchewan Roughriders; however, his coach at the time wisely counselled him to go to university. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Harris and her staff at Concordia Hospital and Drs. Leylek and Pathak and their staff at CancerCare Manitoba for their professionalism, caring and commitment to Dave. It was a long and difficult journey for him. We also send our love and appreciation to all the family and friends who helped support us while Dave fought this vicious disease called cancer. Cremation has taken place. Interment and a small celebration of life, per Dave's wishes, will follow later in the summer. Flowers are gratefully declined, and in lieu donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Dave was my manager at Acres International, and always treated me with respect, and I knew I could always count on his support if needed. He expressed confidence in me, and provided opportunities I may otherwise never have had. At one point, the business became very slow for a period of time, he could easily have let me go to help manage costs, but he found ways to keep me productively working, allowing me to continue to care for the needs of my family, I owe him many thanks for this. I will remember David as a friend and someone who did his best for others. I will remember his smile, his laugh, and the confidence he instilled in others. - Posted by: Terry Cole (Fellow Employee & Friend) on: Sep 28, 2016

  • David was my mother's favorite nephew....and he was generous and gracious enough to come to Moose Jaw to be a pall bearer at her funeral - the kind of guy he was...thoughtful and joyful in my memory. - Posted by: Marilyn JOhnson (nee Gruber) (cousin) on: Dec 17, 2015

  • To my Uncle David.... Time to rest.. Sandra - Posted by: Sandra Ewoniak (nee Pashniak) and my son Cameron (Niece) on: Dec 05, 2015

  • We'll always remember Dave first as the man who made our dear Linda so happy for these many years. I had the pleasure of being at their wedding reception in Thunder Bay, and remember it as one of the best times our parents were all together for a happy event. Alain and I also really appreciated Dave and Linda's hospitality the Christmas our dear Dad was in the St. Boniface hospital. It was hard even from this distance knowing how much he went through in his battle with cancer, so much that there's space in knowing he's no doubt in a much better place now. Bon courage to Linda and all of Dave's family. Love, Sheila - Posted by: Dave Pashniak (Cousins husband) on: Dec 05, 2015
