CAROLINE MAY PYPER (nee DUECK) May 23, 1932 - December 10, 2015 Carol passed away after a courageous battle with ill health at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit on December 10, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents, father Daniel in 1990 and mother Helen in 2000, as well as her sister Janice in 2001 and brother Bob in 2006. Carol will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband James (Jim) Pyper, brother Elvin (Joan) Dueck, sister Sharon Dueck, sister-in-law Dolores Dueck, as well as brother-in-law Gerald (Sandra) Pyper and sister-in-law Elaine (Bob) Hunt. She will also leave behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, as well as numerous other family and friends. Carol was born to Daniel and Helen Dueck on May 23, 1932 and spent her childhood years in Horndean, Manitoba. She was employed for some years in the office at Thiessen Bus Lines, but decided to leave to further her education. Carol graduated as a Registered Nurse from Victoria General Hospital, where she continued in their employ for two years. She moved to St. Boniface General Hospital, and was in their employ for many years in several specialized areas, and retired early to provide private care to family members. Carol loved to travel, spending many winter vacations with Jim in Palm Springs, California, and went on a number of cruises, and in the last few years spent some time in Parksville on Vancouver Island, B.C. Carol also enjoyed music and theatre and attended numerous cultural performances presented by the symphony, ballet and opera. She also enjoyed attending sports activities with Jim, especially the curling competitions. Carol, thanks for being a very loving, kind soul, who leaves us with many cherished memories. Rest in Peace. Special thanks to Dr. Melanie Shell and nursing friends Margaret Kavanagh and Shirley McKinley who gave Carol extra special care. Thanks to the Palliative Care staff and also to others who visited and offered many prayers for Carol. • I enjoyed Carol during child-care during the Mom's program at Bethel Mennonite Church. She was so gentle with the children. - Posted by: Erna Braun (friend) on: Dec 17, 2015

  • I was paging through the Winnipeg Free Press and came across this lovely lady's photo. Janice was my good friend and Carol was so good to her when she was ill.We lost touch after Janice passed nut was thinking of her the other day and thought I should send her a Christmas Card. Needless to say it is too late. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Jim and the rest of the Dueck family. Ron & Marty James - Posted by: Ron & Marty James (friend) on: Dec 16, 2015
