Marcel is survived by his wife, daughter Karine (Jim), son Garry, granddaughters Julianna and Abriella, and his sisters, Jeannine (Louis) Carriere and Yvette (Louis) Bouvier. Marcel was predeceased by his son (Alan), parents (Lucienne and Hervé), and two brothers, (Henri and Laurent). Marcel was committed to his family, and spent countless hours coaching his three children in baseball, hockey and football. He had a special bond with his two young granddaughters who adored their Grandpa. His vast knowledge about hockey, coupled with his good nature, made him an exceptional coach to many young hockey players. The family would like to thank the staff in the Emergency Room and E5 Medicine at the St. Boniface Hospital for the outstanding care provided. In keeping with Marcel's wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will be holding a funeral mass celebrating his life on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc Street. Dear Diane and Family While only having known Marcel for the last 8 years, it feels like a lifetime. Never have we met someone who gave so much to kids asking nothing in return. I'm going to very much miss our own conversations. They always started with hockey, covered everything else and ended with hockey. There are certain people in life you cross paths with, some leave their mark, others don't, but Marcel left a friendship we will treasure. Conversations may have started differently, but they always ended with "say hi to the gang for me". Really wishing we would have had one last call.... RIP my friend!! Going back a long time ago when "Flubber " and I both worked at Pepsi. We worked together for awhile as a team and became friends for many years after. when he went on to Old Dutch would still see him quite often peddling his Chips around town. Will miss you old friend. We have known Marcel for most of our lives. We left Winnipeg following our wedding in 1965. Marcel was one of our groomsmen. On occasion we ran into each other when we were visiting with family in Winnipeg or when Marcel and Diane were touring around in B.C. We are so glad to have seen him at our 50th in Winnipeg last summer. We were looking forward to renewing old acquaintances next summer when we will be in Winnipeg for our annual visit. RIP old friend - Posted by: Allan Verry (Friend) on: Dec 22, 2015

We've known Marcel almost all our lives. We played together and coached hockey in St. Vital for almost 40 years. There is probably not a kid under 40 years of age who doesn't know Marcel from the community clubs and Victoria's hockey programs. Marcel was highly thought of through his involvement in winter sports in St Vital. Marcel will be missed and lovingly remembered by his many friends in St Vital and St Boniface. R.I.P. My friend. - Posted by: Jim & Sherron Kelly (Friends) on: Dec 22, 2015
