LOUISE I. BEATTY (nee FRIESEN) Louise passed away on December 22, 2015 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Norm; her brothers Peter and Jack; her sisters, Mary and Helen, and her daughter-in-law Valerie. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Sandy; grandsons, Paul (Kim), and Mark (Margo) and her great-grandchildren, Grace, Sarah, Rhys, and MacKenzie. She was also an aunt to several nieces and nephews. As a young lady, Louise grew up in the West End of Winnipeg and proudly attended Daniel Mac. High School. She married Norman in 1941 and after a three year stint in Edmonton in the late 1950's, they settled down for over thirty years on Kingston Row in St.Vital. She later moved into the Courts of St. James. Louise was a long time loyal employee of Eaton's, a place she often referred to as her second family. She was a world traveller, something that was truly her passion. Her loyalty and support of the RWB, the Symphony, and the Opera spanned twenty-five years and bought her great joy. At mom's request there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favourite charity. We would like to sincerely thank the staff of Riverview Centre, C-2 wing. A life well-lived! Rest in Peace. Love, The family.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Mrs. Beatty (Louise) was a wonderful neighbour and friend from the time we moved next door in 1980 to the time we moved south in 2008. Even then it was a pleasure to keep in touch over the phone. Always independent, feisty, happy and adventurous in life, her forays around the world, her casino excursions, tea cup and spoon collections, her gardening and day-to-day kibitzing are only a few of the things that we miss and remember her for. She shared much in our lives, including the births and formative years of all five of the kids. She also shared her birthday with our son, Alexander, which gave rise to get-togethers at the Courts of St. James, and opportunities to catch up on the 'old' neighbourhood. Louis was a special lady, close to our hearts. She is missed, but never forgotten. - Posted by: Doug & Michele, Paul, Patricia, Alexander, Andrew & Zachary Kerfoot (Next door neighbours on Kingston Row) on: May 03, 2018

  • Mrs. Beatty was a lovely lady, and a great neighbour. She always stopped to chat. She was genuinely concerned about what my sisters and I were doing, and how our families were. In our parents' later years, she was very helpful. She continued to make phone calls to them after she moved from the neighbourhood. She was truly a thoughtful neighbour. Sincerely, Valerie McCartney ( nee Mycan ) - Posted by: Valerie McCartney ( nee Mycan ) (Our family were neighbours on Kingston Row ) on: Dec 27, 2015

  • As young nieces, we loved Aunt Louise. Her house had very interesting things to look at and she was always welcoming. She had a wonderful smile and always seemed happy to see her extended family. She had a lot of stories to tell and was fascinating to listen to. She will be missed. Wish we could have seen her more in later years. - Posted by: Terry Preston and Marlies Friesen (Nieces) on: Dec 26, 2015

  • Our condolences to Sandy & family. - Posted by: Richard Falk & Family (Nephew) on: Dec 26, 2015
