BRUCE DOUGLAS DAWSON May 4, 1944 - January 6, 2016 With his family at his side, Bruce peacefully passed away after a lengthy illness on January 6, 2016. A veteran of the construction industry, Bruce leaves behind a legacy as a hard-working professional, highly respected by his peers. While work was important, his true passion was for the game of golf, although he never achieved his life goal of besting the score of Veronica. In addition to his unremarkable golf game, he also takes with him his questionable sense of humour. He is survived by his wife Veronica; his children, Marnie (Mike), Douglas (Paola) and Michael (Joanne); his sister Sandra (Ron); and his brother Ron (Vicky). He is also remembered by his stepdaughter Nicole (Steve); his mother-in-law Vivianne; his brother-in-law Paul, as well as his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many former colleagues and friends. We would like to thank the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their compassion and care over the past 18 months. In keeping with Bruce's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or to Victoria General Hospital Foundation. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I had the pleasure of working with Bruce at Lafarge for a few years, he was a very kind funny and outgoing man. Always had a big smile on his face and had a story to tell. I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences to his family and friends in this time of loss. - Posted by: Meig Burgess (Old Co Worker) on: Jan 12, 2016

  • We are deeply saddened to see the passing of our 'old' friend 'Daws'. Our history reaches back over 55 years. That doesn't often occur. From days at Miles Mac, the reconnection at MIT, the home destruction/construction days in Calgary, the hours playing guitar and singing, yes, singing, we generated many laughs and memories that we will cherish until we meet again. Love and blessings from your oldest friends, Dwight and Mary Lyn Blix. ps 'Go Now In Peace'. - Posted by: T. Dwight & Mary Lyn Blix ('Old' Friends) on: Jan 09, 2016

  • Ronnie & Nicole, I truly am so sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. May you find comfort in knowing he is wrapped in the arms of God and no long suffers. I wish to offer you my deepest and most sincere sympathies on your tragic loss. I offer you my love and caring in this time of need. With love, Marion - Posted by: Marion Wicheranko (Friend/co-worker) on: Jan 09, 2016
