JEAN (FLORENCE) PALAHITSKI (nee CLARKE) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Palahitski on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 89 years. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Matt; sons, Mark and Wayne; brothers, Fred and Don and sisters, Bonnie and Helen. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Garry (April) and Douglas (Pat); daughter, Linda (Gerry) Fiebelkorn; her sister, Ardith Berry, as well as, nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Jean was born in Swan River, MB on December 13, 1926. In 1949 she moved to Winnipeg where she met Matt and the two married on September 29, 1951. Jean worked at the Travelodge Winnipeg East from 1971 up until her retirement. She was an active member at Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall Centre in Southdale where she made many lasting friendships especially, her two closest friends, Eva and Shirley. She enjoyed travelling to California to visit her sister Bonnie, New York, Las Vegas, heading out to Teulon, MB out to the farm to see family and camping at Otter Falls. Jean loved flowers and spending time in the garden, even planting one this past year in Teulon. We will hold many fond memories of mom in our hearts of visits with relatives and friends of the beehive activity that took place at the Palahitski residence at 110 Niakwa Road where stories were shared and time was passed by playing hola and other card games. She was truly a wonderful person who loved her family with all her heart, and was loved in return. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in Jean's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. In keeping with Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
