Heinz may have been a provincial co-worker but he was also my friend who shared more than just thoughts about work. He may have been trained in engineering (black and white) but within the land use planning field (all greys) he was a reasonable thinker with a practical approach. At the end of a long work day, we often chatted about work and other many things that interested us both. My joy was hearing about life lessons learned from his time at work and home in Winnipeg. I shall miss our chats on the phone. My condolences to family and friends. - Posted by: Terry Brown (co-worker) on: Mar 06, 2016

My condolences to the family and co-workers of Heinz. I've worked at Red River Planning District for 27 years and have had constant contact and chats with Heinz throughout my 27 years of work. I found Heinz to be the most pleasant person to talk with. He will be truly missed. - Posted by: Ingrid Zarichney (Friend) on: Jan 27, 2016

Heinz was one of the kindest, most thoughtful and sweetest people I have ever known. - Posted by: Margaret Unruh (friend) on: Jan 24, 2016

My condolences to the family. I worked with Heinz in Highway Planning and Design. In that time Heinz and I traded many stories on our families. Heinz taught me many valuable things in life and at work. k - Posted by: Kevin B Nimchuk (recently retired co worker) on: Jan 24, 2016

Doug met Heinz in first year Engineering at the U of M and found a good friend. Debbie remembers taking a university class with both Doug and Heinz. Heinz and her would talk and play paper and pen games throughout the lecture and then borrow Doug's notes. At exam time, both Heinz and Debbie got a higher mark than Doug! Doug was not impressed but we were laughing. We were lucky to meet his brother and his parents; and in turn, our families were lucky to have known him. We will always treasure the seasons in our life that included Heinz. Deepest heartfelt condolences to his family. - Posted by: Doug and Debbie Kozusko (friend) on: Jan 23, 2016

I, like many, had the pleasure of working with Heinz over the years. His dedication to the job and accumulated knowledge always made for an eventful committee meeting or one-on-one discussion on our road network. He often spoke of his family and you knew he cared for them as much as his work. I will miss all of the interactions that should have been. My condolences to his family and friends that have lost that part of their life far to soon. - Posted by: Peter Tomko (Work Colleague) on: Jan 23, 2016

I have had the honour of working with Heinz for the last 12 years. The past few of those, he has been my manager and my mentor. I am lucky to have had such a great boss that supported me in my desire to work part time. My life and my kids' lives are better because of him. He genuinely cared about me and my family and I will miss his care and concern. He taught me so much but I still had so much left to learn from him. Tracy, Jenny and Josh - I know that life without Heinz will be difficult and sad. He spoke of you all often and I feel like I know you all so well. Please know that you are not alone and that we are grieving with you. The world is a better place because of him. - Posted by: Karen (co-worker and friend) on: Jan 23, 2016

I knew Heinz through work, he worked for Highways and I worked for the Community Planning Branch in Beausejour. We shared our mutual frustrations over government policy and shared a laugh in between. Met with him on several occasions at the annual planning conferences and drew upon his advice in many ways. He was a good person and well respected by many people. Will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Ed Dubray (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2016
