NEL RAE ROY October 2, 1921 - January 20, 2016 Mom passed January 20, 2016, at Trinity Care Centre in Penticton, BC, less than 20 hours before her beloved daughter-in-law Anita Chester, succumbed to her battle with cancer at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Nel's first husband, Jim Chester Sr., passed away March 1964. She was also predeceased by Joe Roy, her second husband, in December 1983. In 1996 Nel met John Gallagan, together they became travel companions and crib partners until John's passing late in the year 2000. Mom was the last remaining sibling of 10 children who were raised on a farm near Treherne, Manitoba. Her parents were Ida and Samuel Hamilton. Nel was employed by C.M.H.C. for 12 and a half years until retirement in 1981. Mom moved to Penticton in 1989 where she continued her affiliation with the R.C.L. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member for over 50 years. Nel thoroughly enjoyed playing cribbage, especially with her grandson James. Mom was a ten pin bowler and an avid lawn bowler. Nel leaves to mourn her son Jim Chester, grandson James Chester (Ann), granddaughter Heather Yanick (Dale), and great-grandson Logan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws and various outlaws throughout Western Canada. Mom was a resident at Trinity for approximately five years. We would like to thank the Trinity staff and in particular, Joan and Val, for the loving care that they gave the Gran.
