Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUGUSTE FALKENBERG With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Auguste Falkenberg, at River Park Gardens on Friday January 29, 2016, at the age of 95 years. Auguste was predeceased by her husband Rudolph in 1994, her infant son Harry, a two-year-old daughter Lucy, as well as a favourite brother-in-law Tony (Elli). Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter Valerie Grabar (Frank), granddaughter Kim Kolak (husband Dan & son Brenden), grandson Richard Grabar (wife Jolene and daughter Emersyn), twin great-granddaughters Kayley & Cassidy, and their mother Jodi. Auguste was born on April 1, 1920 in the German Colony of Neuheim, Ukraine. Auguste and her husband Rudolph and daughter Valerie immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1957. Auguste was a certified teacher in her home country so after arrival to Canada worked in a German kindergarten and the Children's Aid Society as a support worker in a group home. She thoroughly enjoyed all of her employment years in Canada. She was a long term member of Faith Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed time spent with Pastor Kobler in the past years, and Deacon Kris in most recent times. Known for her superb gardening skills, Mom was passionate about her flowers and garden. She took great pride in owning her Canadian home, which was maintained immaculately, and known to be the center of fine German cooking. Mom was a loving, generous woman, always happy to help and treat others. She was very fond of both of her grandchildren Kim and Richard, and all of her great-grandchildren, always happy to hear of news in their lives. During her years at River Park Gardens, she cherished her daily visits from her son-in-law Frank, and the visits from the twins Kayley and Cassidy. Over the years, Auguste was blessed and supported by wonderful long-term friends, Ted and Irene Pomes, and neighbour Amanda Dooley, who always visited and kept in touch, and we thank them for that. The family would like to thank all the staff of River Park Gardens for the excellent care given to Auguste in the past nine years, including the nursing staff and all of the support staff. Special mention must be made of the outstanding care and attention our mother received from nurses Lourdes and Leah, and the special visits and attention from Mavis at reception. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 am on Friday February 5, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba, located at 1311 Dakota Street. Viewing prior to service at 9:30 a.m. Reception at the church following service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Lutheran Church at officeadmin@faithlc.ca, 204-253-1491 or a charity of choice. I met Auguste 30 years ago when I moved next door to her. She was a great neighbour, you are right Valerie always helping others, she helped me with my kids numerous times. She told me many stories of her past and they were always so interesting to me. She spoke very highly of her family and she loved you dearly as you know. My deepest sympathies Valerie to you and your family. - Posted by: Yvonne McCleery (neighbour) on: Feb 03, 2016
