GRANT MCBRIDE Peacefully with family by his side Grant McBride passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on February 11, 2016 at the age of 68. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years Eileen (Helbren) McBride; children, Clifford (Sylvia) McBride, Angie (Josh) Peters and Nicholas McBride. His sister Heather (Dwaine) Hollands; and brothers, Glenn McBride and Kenneth (Christina) McBride. God children, Amber (Brad) McCarthy, Glen (Elena) Brayshaw, and Pamela Poole. Grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe, Abigail, Isabella, Elizabeth, Madison, Brooklyn, and Ryker; and many other brother, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, too numerous to mention. Grant was born on August 21, 1947 in Winnipeg, MB, to Ivan and Mathilda (Gateson) McBride, who predeceased him. Grant married the love of his life Eileen on September 2, 1972, and together they raised three children. He worked as a delivery truck driver for over 30 years before he retired and had the privilege of being a stay-at-home papa. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives. When Grant lost his mother, his baby sister Heather and brother Ken went to live with their auntie in Edmonton. If he felt he was needed, he would go to Edmonton to see them in a heartbeat. He then had the privilege of meeting his new sister and brother-in-law and then his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. It touched his heart the love that they had for him. He was fortunate to have his brother Glenn and his children and grandchildren in Winnipeg. Through the years Grant enjoyed many things with his family like going to the lake, where he would always make a huge breakfast for anyone who showed up. He met what would be his best friends at the lake and then his daughter and son eventually met their spouses there as well. Grant would do anything for his Cliffy, Punkers, Nickers, and Ambious. He would love to come up with nicknames for his nieces and nephews like Remanda and Scotly etc. He especially enjoyed spending time with his munchkins. His years with us seem all too few but in those years he lived a wonderful life. A Prayer Service will be held in memory of Grant on Wednesday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m., at Notre Dame De L Assomption, 609 Leola St. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 18, at 2:00 p.m., at the Notre Dame De L Assomption, 609 Leola St. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Those who so desire may make a memorial donation in memory of Grant to any children's charity. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

It’s been six years since he passed away now, and there is not a single day that goes by where I don’t think about him. I wish I could go get a banana popsicle with him one last time. I just wanna watch one more episode of caillou with him. I wanna hear him say “goodbye munchkin” one more time. - Posted by: one of his munchkins (granddaughter ) on: Mar 06, 2022

I am saddened to hear of Grants passing and am thinking of you all at this time of sorrow. So many years have gone by since Grant came to live with us on Dudley Avenue. He and my brother Wayne were friends back in the day and have stayed close all these years. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have shared a table with Grant and Eileen at my nephews wedding a few years ago. We all had a good time. Thinking of you now, rest in peace Grant. - Posted by: Lana Burgoyne (Turner) (friend) on: Feb 18, 2016

To Aunty Eileen and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Loved Uncle Grant with all my heart and he will be missed by so many people. I remember him giving me my nickname of Gus. I use to tell him...that's not my name! But now that I'm older, I will miss him calling me that. Hugs to all Janice(aka Gus) - Posted by: Janice Boux (McBride) (Niece (Glenn McBride's daughter)) on: Feb 17, 2016
