NUNZIO LOVETRI April 26, 1929 February 29, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved husband, father and nonno, Nunzio LoVetri, who passed peacefully on February 29, 2016 with his wife Licia of 58 years at his side. Nunzio was born on April 26, 1929 in Calascibetta, Italy. He was the second youngest of 10 children. He married Licia in 1957 and with their two children, Lucy (Marvin) and Joe (Karen) they immigrated to Winnipeg in 1965, and settled in the West End. They moved to North Kildonan in the early 70's and their son Antonio (Jennifer) was born. Nunzio started working when he was seven years old, and he worked hard his entire life. He often remarked that "God put us on this earth to work." In Italy Nunzio worked the land of his parent's farm as well as other nearby farms with his brothers. In Winnipeg, he took on various labourer jobs and worked hard to give his family the life that he had promised himself he would give them. Nunzio switched to caretaking, working the evening shifts at Eaton's and later at the Health Sciences Centre, from where he retired. He enjoyed gardening, and loved to take long walks around the neighbourhood or would walk at the indoor track during the long winter months. He loved to play bocce ball and considered himself a professional player. Nunzio loved his six grandchildren, (Natalie, Peter, Silvana, Carmela, Melissa and Paul) and his four great-grandsons, (Matteo, Rylan, Jethro and Boston). They brought tremendous joy to him every time they came to visit. Nunzio will be dearly missed by us all. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tunovic for his care and patience during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home. We are grateful for the special care and love shown during his stay. He was as comfortable as he was at home. He was always laughing and telling us "Everybody knows me." Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., at 10:00 a.m., with condolences being offered one hour prior to mass, Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
