JOHN PELLAND Our family is sad to announce the passing of John Pelland on March 2, 2016, after a brief illness. John was born August 17, 1938 in Silver Plains, Manitoba. John leaves to mourn his loving wife of 55 years, June; daughter Debbie (Russ); sons David (Lorelei) and Doug (Laura); grandchildren Silva (Gene), John, Sarah (Vince), Shay (Cory), Chris, Brett and Jenna; plus great-grandchildren Davin, Russ and Eason. John was loved and will be missed by his sisters Susan (Bill), Judy (Cliff) and Margaret; his brother Paul; sisters-in-law Judy and Rose and brother-in-law Jerry (Linda); numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his good friend Sam. John was a project manager for several civil engineering firms and oversaw the development of many communities in Winnipeg. This kept him very busy, but he always found time for his family. John was also very active as a hockey coach, was a past president of the Southdale Recreation Association and served for many years on the General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres. In recognition for his many years of volunteer service, John received a commendation from the Mayor's office and a street was named in his honour in the Sage Creek community, a source of great pride for our family. John was an extremely generous and thoughtful man who always made time for others. He loved to laugh and spend time with friends and family. He taught us well, and we are all better people as a result. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. While we mourn Dad's passing, we take comfort in knowing he is in a better place, and for those who really knew him, you can be sure he is sharing a good joke. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Johnny was a great neighbour and a fine colleague in building Winnipeg's street system. We very much regret his death. We wish we could have said goodbye! - Posted by: Ted and Marlene Clarke (Former neighbours on Brereton Road) on: Mar 08, 2016
