BETTY KATHLEEN EMBERLEY With great sorrow in our hearts and tears in our eyes, we announce the passing of Betty Kathleen Emberley. Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep, in the early morning of Saturday, March 5, 2016. Waiting to meet her as she left this world were her husband Bob Emberley (1921 to 2005) and her great-granddaughter Summer Baranowski (March 2015 to November 2015). Her memory here will be cherished by Keena (daughter) and Ron Everett; Gillian (daughter) and Robert Taylor; Keith (son) and Dianne Emberley. Her grandchildren: Craig (and Michelle) Everett, Grant Everett, Lindsey (and Ben) Baranowski, and Tyler Emberley will all miss Nana and her Sugar Cookies. Great-grandchildren: Kate, Brook and Reed Everett; Loren and Eva Everett; Summer Baranowski; stepgreat-grandchildren: Aiva and Kaleb. All will hear her stories through us. Mom came to Canada as a War Bride. Her and Dad settled originally in Gilbert Plains, moved to Beausejour and finally lived in Winnipeg. While living in Beausejour and Winnipeg, she met other War Brides that became lifelong family friends. She enjoyed life with her family and husband for many years. Taking trips back to Gilbert, trips back to England, camping, picnics, dress maker and seamstress, world traveller, baker, cottager, provider and counselor. She did many things with us as we grew up. She even passed along her sweet tooth to us. All the while teaching and nourishing us in the ways of the world. Mom and Dad spent many years enjoying their trailer at West Hawk and later their cottage at Falcon Lake. At the lake, Mom enjoyed swimming (Mom loved the beach), boating, entertaining family and friends. She also took great pleasure babysitting her grandchildren out at the lake. Always doing something with them - baking her sugar cookies, making chips, going on picnics around the lake. She lived a full, rich life. We are proud to have been able to call her OUR MOM. May God bless and keep her. Thank you to the staff of Kin Place who cared and looked after in her final years. Mom was known for her gentleness and her love of dessert while in their care. Our thanks to them again for the special care she received in her final days. There will be a service at Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent, Oakbank, Manitoba on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. There will be luncheon in the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society on behalf of Mom. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

  • Sorry to hear of Aunt Betty's passing. Being the oldest of the cousins I remember meeting her when she first arrived in Gilbert Plains. I was probably 8-9 years old. She was always one of my favourites. Our deepest condolences to Keena, Keith and Gillian and their families.
