MARY THERESA BLOOR July 18, 1929 - March 3, 2016 Mary lived the life she had carved for herself, a life filled with courage, joy and the confidence that comes with common sense and a wicked sense of humour. She was kind and generous to her family and friends, always being sure to keep the ties that bind us one to another secure. She was an inspiration to her grandchildren Bonnie (Jody), John (Ning), Michael, Stephanie and Nicholas always sharing advice and experience that often caused their parents to raise their eyebrows and leave the room. She adored her great-grandchildren, Malia, Anisha, and Phim looked forward to their weekly afternoon visits, filled with homemade soup, chocolate cake and laughter. Mary took great joy in the ongoing company of her sisters and brothers. She grew up in a family of 10 and was proud that the family stayed close and continued to enjoy one another's company, celebrating their growing dynasty each summer with an annual reunion. George and Dorothy, Katie, Polly, Steve, Willie and Dayle meant so much to her. The memories of Nick, Anne, John, and Mike she kept alive in the stories of joy and challenge from the past. Mary lost the company of her husband John in 1977. Too quickly and with a heart full of sorrow she continued on, determined to lead her three children through their teenage and young adult lives. She did this with grace and independence. She was a proud woman, carrying on to a new career and course of study. Mary became a Manager of Dietary Services at Seven Oaks Hospital. Her three children, Cathy, Michael and Maryann walked with her during her final weeks, witnessing the way a strong soul slowly surrenders to death. They need little condolences, knowing they were blessed with the greatest mother they could have had - a mother that taught them well; a mother that knows family love is the foundation of a happy life. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB. R3B 1M3.
