MARLENE HELENA (GUIMOND) BIRD March 1, 1961- March 5, 2016 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Marlene Helena (Guimond) Bird. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her daughter Michelle (Dan); grandchildren, Dylan, Desmond, Marshall and her special grandson whom she kept Dolton; her siblings, Leona (Dorian), Chucky (Cheryl) and her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Marlene was predeceased by her sons, Randal George Bird Jr. and Peter Richard Bird; her parents, Peter and Verna Guimond; her sister Bertha and brother-in-law Gabriel Swampy; brother Dennis (Chiboy) Guimond; nephews, Jason, Satch and Trudeau. Marlene was an active person doing things she loved, mostly driving around with her pal Marie. She also worked as a substitute teacher at the school in Black River till she succumbed to a stroke January 2, 2013 after she lost her son January 1, 2013. She never recovered entirely. Marlene has now gone to join all the family that has gone before her. Safe travel into the spirit world. We want to thank all the doctors and nurses at the HSC for trying so hard to save my sister, and also a big thank you to Lyn Alexander for being there for her auntie. Kitchi Meqweetch to all who helped. Wake service started March 8 at the R.C. church in Sagkeeng, and the next three nights at the Black River band hall starting March 9, 2016. Funeral service will be held at the St. George Anglican Church in Black River on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with reverends Richard and Nancy Bruyere officiating. Interment to follow at the cemetery. Pallbearers are, Dylan Bunn (grandson), Desmond Guimond (grandson), Marshall Guimond (grandson), Mark Alexander (nephew), Gabe Swampy Jr. (nephew), Kevin Guimond (nephew). Honourary pallbearers, Michelle Guimond (daughter), Leona Bacon (sister), Dolton Bunn (grandson), Ella Bird (granddaughter), Cheryl Guimond (niece), Destiny (grand-niece) and cross bearer Dolton Bunn.
